  1. Does anyone know when Max Margulis left Blue Note?
  2. Ballads by Ben - it doesn't get any better.
  3. Classic, indeed.
  4. Looks to me like a bunch of HRs and a lot more SOs - 532 among the three last year, and Judge only played 2/3rds of the season. The Yankees already have the hitting. They need pitching (as always) - and not the stop-gap repair that Cashman made.
  5. It's a favorite late AEC recording for me, John.
  6. CD 4 - 2, 10, 13
  7. Felt the need to give this another listen today. One of the Art Ensemble's best later recordings - possibly the last before Lester Bowie's passing. He's in fine form here.
  8. Thank you for sharing this, Chuck.
  9. If I were the Nats, I wouldn't make the same offer that was on the table several months ago. Things have changed since then.
  10. You want more offense? Get some hitters in the game who can hit 'em where they ain't (to borrow Willie Keeler's phrase). What's in the game now are a large number of hitters who have the attitude - I'm a slugger, and I'm not going to change - shift or no shift. And what you get with that are some home runs, but a lot of strikeouts and a lot of outs hit into the shift.
  11. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/02/05/obituaries/jacqueline-steiner-dead.html She co-wrote "M.T.A.", the Kingston Trio hit of the early 1960's, but what interested me was the mention of Max Margulis, "a founder of Blue Note Records". I was unaware of that until today. (Always good to learn something new.) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Max_Margulis
  12. You may have come across jazz liner notes written by her in the early 1960's: https://www.nytimes.com/2019/01/17/obituaries/barbara-gardner-proctor-trailblazing-ad-executive-dies-at-86.html
  13. After listening to Jeff's new CD, I felt the urge to listen to another Atlanta native. I've always liked the cover photos on this one - taken by our own brownie (the member, not the camera) - though this CD issue only includes one of them. I had to take the LP off the shelf to see the other, and I did that.
  14. Listened to this for the first time today. It's a very good one and I hope that others will check it out.
  15. I stated a fact. If the players aren't concerned about their long term health, and the fans aren't either, why should I be concerned? And I am serious.
