Jimmy Rushing: Gee Baby Ain't I Good to You (Master Jazz Recordings)
Mr. Rushing, in fine voice, backed by a wonderful band - Buck Clayton, Dickie Wells, Julian Dash,
Sir Charles Thompson, Gene Ramey, and Jo Jones. I couldn't ask for more.
When I read this, the first thing that came to my mind was - Bobby Bradford seems to have a certain loyalty toward Stanley Crouch. I wonder how much of that loyalty is reciprocated.
Randy Weston - Vishnu Wood Duo: Perspective (Denon Jazz)
Somewhat surprisingly (to me, at least), this is a bit more of a Vishnu Wood record than it is a Randy Weston record. And it works well that way, so it's all good.

The ability to make people laugh seems to becoming a rarer quality these days. We just lost a man who did that for many years.
Thanks, Mr. Lawrence. You'll be missed and remembered.
For a while when I worked for the Postal Service, I used to write down unusual names that I saw on letters. I believe that I still have that list somewhere but, off the top of my head, I remember:
Flem Goolsby
and
Ms. Dalietta Lavender
Haven't heard a lot of his playing, but what I have heard is a little too florid for my tastes. He does make a good foil for, and plays well with, Lee Konitz on Toot Sweet (Owl).
To interrupt - Did you mean Robert Horry, the only non-Boston Celtic who has more championship rings as a player than Michael Jordan? Google lists some Richard Horrys, but they seem to be about as famous as I am.
