  1. Soleil Moon Frye? Had to Google to find out who she is. Having done that, I'm still clueless.
  2. Arthur Blythe: The Grip (India Navigation/Paddle Wheel Japan)
  3. Your range of acquaintances amazes me.
  4. Received word from a friend that Iverson Minter/Louisiana Red has passed. Haven't found any confirmation except a date of death (today) on Wikipedia. My friend received this news in an email from Bob Corritore, who is generally reliable with this sort of news.
  5. Schubert: Octet/Spohr: Octet - Wiener Oktett (Decca)
  6. Jabbo Smith Punch Miller Irv Cross
  7. Mayhew, interesting dude. Anyone whose company put out a record titled "(Pardon Me) I've Got Someone To Kill" is worth remembering.
  8. Sonny Clark - Wynton Kelly: The Immortal Session from Blue Note (BN/Toshiba EMI Japan) Why "Session" when there were two - 1951 (Kelly); 1958 (Clark), and why "Immortal", I have no idea. But the music is fine.
  9. Even if he got cleared on a technicality, he'll still have the stigma hanging over him. But that doesn't mean much to today's athletes. Self respect is a thing of the past.
  10. Hoss Cartwright Hoss Clarke Hoss Radbourn
  11. People will listen to whatever format(s) they choose to listen to. If you're happy with whatever you're doing, who cares about what others are doing? Just enjoy the music.
  12. Welcome back, AB! And hope brownie is having a good recovery. Pneumonia can be a nasty thing. Had a bad case in '93 or '94 and it took me 2-3 weeks to get back to feeling normal. Feel better soon, Guy.
  13. The REAL Joe Daley at Newport!
  14. Excellent, excellent LP! Still haven't sourced the "original" (and its beautiful cover) but the 70s press sounds good enough for me. It's a shame this wonderful album isn't better known. Of the several Gaslini LPs I own, this is probably the most fully-realized sounding. Here's the original front cover artwork: Didn't know that there had been another cover. Thanks for making me aware of that. Here's an image that may work:
  15. Dr. Victor Olaiya: In the 60's (Polygram Nigeria)
  16. Princess Margaret Peter Townsend Pete Townshend
  17. Giorgio Gaslini: Nuovi Sentimenti (New Feelings) - (EMI Italy)
  18. Bud Powell Trio (Roost Japan) 1947 and 1953 recordings With 1950's Bud, like 1950's Billie and Pres, the feeling is always there, even if it's sometimes almost painful to listen to.
  19. Eddie Haskell?
  20. Very rarely eat bacon, but this sounds so out there that I might give it a try.
  21. Thanks for that, Durium.
  22. Dillinger: Bionic Dread (Mango)
  23. Stravinsky: Le Sacre du Printemps - Fricsay/RIAS S.O. Berlin (DG)
  24. Robert Jr. Lockwood and the Aces: Blues Live in Japan (Advent)
  25. Roscoe Mitchell & the Note Factory: The Bad Guys (il manifesto)
