  1. My Buddy Jimmy Rowles Joan Weston
  2. Good catch. Forgot about that one completely.
  3. Have the Robert Pete Williams and may still have the John Littlejohn - there's a box of 45's waiting to be cleaned sitting in my garage. Didn't think that anyone else here would have or even know about those.
  4. Everson Walls W.C. Fields (Is this a game of chance? WC: Not the way I play it, no.) Cuthbert J. Twillie
  5. Pee Wee Crayton Joe Boxer Casey Stengel
  6. Skip Spence Jump Jackson Clint Hurdle
  7. The Naked and the Dead The Big Sleep The Chill
  8. Judy Holliday Annie Ross Sandy Dennis
  9. Greta Garbo J.D. Salinger Thomas Pynchon
  10. Read the review here.
  11. Call Cobbs' harpsichord playing is effective on Albert Ayler's "Angels" - Spirits Rejoice (ESP), but it's a relatively short track. I don't know if I'd want to hear it over the course of an entire jazz album.
  12. Best wishes on your Birthday!
  13. Not what I expected when I started the thead, but things tend to happen in their own way.
  14. Odd angle as I didn't want to make it too easy (for those who know every face in the music ) Does this one help? Obviously not Jimmy Lyons.
  15. Odd angle, so it's hard to tell - Jimmy Lyons?
  16. Pure poetry.
  17. Ayler playing his "roots". That's a record that's often overlooked and shouldn't be.
  18. Hattie Hudson: "Doggone My Good Luck Soul" from Before the Blues Vol. 2 (Yazoo) - mainly for Will Tyson's piano accompaniment and Blind Joe Taggart: "Been Listening All the Day" from Before the Blues Vol. 2 (Yazoo) - Maybe the races weren't supposed to mix in the old south, but their musics sure did.
  19. The Holy Modal Rounders: The Moray Eels Eat the Holy Modal Rounders (Elektra/Sundazed) A prime example of an album recorded under the influence. I'm a HMR fan and I'll keep this record - it's actually fun to listen to in limited doses - but I'm sure I'll play others of theirs more than this one.
  20. Now who recorded that song? I know I have a version by a female singer, but can't find it ... Louis and Ella recorded a version of it.
  21. Didn't follow the case and trial, so I can't comment on the verdict. Just more fodder for the media, as far as I could tell.
