  1. Saw a young woman dancing much like that at a wedding last year. But she seemed to be enjoying herself and that's what matters.
  2. None of us look like we did thirty years ago. I think she looks more real today than she did on television back then.
  3. I had pretty much the same answer yesterday as I had three years ago. Guess my dancing hasn't improved.
  4. My wife once told me that I beat out Al Gore for the "stiff white guy" title. Guess that says it all.

  10. David Abbott's The Upright Piano Player Why do so many novels start very promisingly and end disappointingly? This one could have used a good editor.

  14. Some quotes from Baseball Diamonds, edited by W.P. Kinsella: Baseball is more like a novel than like a war. It is like an ongoing hundred year work of art, peopled with thousands of characters, full of improbable events, anecdotes, folklore and numbers. - Luke Salisbury I think a baseball diamond must be the most beautiful thing in the world. It's so honest and precise. And we play on it. Every star gets humbled. Every mediocre player has a great moment. - Jim Lefebvre Baseball is a kid's game that grownups only tend to screw up. - Bob Lemon If my uniform doesn't get dirty, I haven't done anything in the baseball game. - Rickey Henderson It's easy to stay in the major leagues for 7 and a half years when you hit .300. But when you hit .216 like me, it's really an accomplishment. - Joe Lahoud (In reality, Joe Lahoud played for parts of 11 years in the majors and hit .223. Still, really an accomplishment.)

  17. There have been some postings about Roscoe Mitchell's music recently. Partly because of that, I've been reading these interviews and thought they might be of interest: http://www.furious.com/perfect/roscoemitchell.html http://www.cloudsandclocks.net/interviews/RMitchell_interview01.html http://www.cloudsandclocks.net/interviews/RMitchell_interview99.html http://www.jazzhouse.org/nlib/index.php3?read=panken10
  18. Is that the one with Hank and Sir Charles (if memory serves)? It starts with a killer version of All Too Soon. If it's the same recording, mine had a different photo. You have a good memory - same record.
