Dwight Gooden Sentenced to Year in Prison
catesta replied to Brownian Motion's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
GOM, According to the story I read, Goden CHOSE jail. He could have gone to rehab again, with failure resulting in 5 years in jail. He chose to take no rehab and the sure year. That is correct. That is what pisses me off. He's more or less saying he expects to screw up again. -
Looks like it's going to be the Dupont Circle or surrounding area. I can't bring myself to leave the dog by herself for three days so taking her with us. My girlfriend doesn't know this yet. So with the dog along, that means I need to stay at one of the Marriott Residence Inns. I get member points for the stay so it works out well.

Listening to Punk can make you a terrorist suspect
catesta replied to tjobbe's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Early Clash most assuredly is. Yea, I never really got the idea that the Clash were really "Punk". I tend think of bands like The Exploited or The Sex Pistols. The Clash were always little more polished. That said, I would much rather listen to The Clash than the groups mentioned, and actually I think it's about time to throw a little London Calling on right now. Bill Be careful. -

Are the Clash really really considered punk? -

True, but he did actually commit crimes which is why he was on probation in the first place. -

We got hit! The lawns are turned white. Good thing the temps are still up a bit.

Send me a couple of lbs before I invest in a plane ticket. I could stand to lose a couple of pounds, so this works out well. I'm looking into that Pastrami delivery.

Sunday was absolutely perfect. We walked from W. 38th Street up to Central Park and back down along the water. Got to watch The Norwegian Dawn leaving from the pier.

I'll pick you guys up! Couw can drive. RC, glad to see you out and about.

Chris, thanks for the tips. I'm not opposed to going outside of Manhattan but we don't have a car so we'll need to figure out the transportation..... m~ Don't worry there is plenty good things to be found in Manhattan. Steakhouses for sure! Although the best (Peter Luger) is Brooklyn. Sparks Frankie and Johnnie's Uncle Jack's BLT Prime Dig the music! All of these come with the catesta seal of approval. Let me know if you want more.... Chuck, if you ever make it back to Manhattan I'll take you to one of them neighborhood places and make you forget all about Carnegie.
-
H&H is definitely a great place for a bagel. I like both Stage and Carnegie, but expect a wait. Both are major tourist attractions. If you feel adventurous go on down to Katz's. I'd say hit The Second Avenue Deli, but it's gone. Katz Deli If you insist on staying in Manhattan for pizza , here are a few spots to try. De Marco's - Houston and McDougal St. (Greenwich Village) Lombardi's - Mott and Mulberry (Little Italy) Una Pizza Napoletana - 12th St and 2nd Ave (East Village) You won't regret going beyond midtown for dining. Steakhouse recommendations to follow.....

On the food, is driving to Brooklyn an option? Seriously, I'll post some suggestions after I give it some thought. I'm all for hooking up for a beer and maybe some music if time allows.

Until 2106. Guy I'll mark my calendar.

That was hilarious. The supposed "bad ass" rapper yelling that he was shot in the ass was priceless. As for the rest of the show. The Paulie "Walnuts" thing was very disturbing. At the end when he beat the kid up, I couldn't tell if he was looking to get the $4k because he had a change of heart about his mother/aunt, or just because he was pissed the dude's mother made him cry. It most definitely seems as if Tony is going to soften up some. We'll see how that plays out. I thought the appearance by Hal Holbrook was an interesting one.

Thanks, GM, for more gas guzzlers

I did. Very informative. They discussed the pensions and health care plan the company is burried in. Some of the numbers will blow your mind. The payroll for retired employees is almost unbelievable.
