    Just Wondering

It might be that other guy who simgs with Kenny G, Louis Armstrong.
  2. Ah, I see he was mentioned in the first post!
  3. Has anyone mentioned. . . The triple threat?

    Just Wondering

    Well. . .it's not Kenny G!
  5. Wow, and the one way ticket only may be a selling point, not a detriment!
  6. Allan Reuss. Carmen Mastren. Eddie Lang is only overlooked. . . these days.
  7. I listened to it again recently, which was fun. The cd's going to have about 7 additional tracks on the cd. And will probably have one of those big thick booklets. . . I'm glad to see they're giving her music attention!
  8. Yes, and before this is out in April, Smithsonian/Folkways should have "Mary Lou's Mass" out on cd!
  9. Oh no don't get Pee Deedly (P D) started again! I would trust Cuscuna to pick worthy material, and from the Slack I've heard with T-Bone and with Ella Mae Morse I'd say I'd probably want to hear it.
  10. Looking forward to the Andrew Hill and Art Pepper sets.
  11. Guess I was snoozing! Good news. . . hope Addey does the remastering.
  12. Information thanks to LAL! April The Complete Clef, Mercury and Verve Studio Recordings of Count Basie and his Orchestra (1952-1957). (8 CDs) #229 - $136 Includes Basie's "New Testament" band that featured Frank Wess, Frank Foster, Benny Powell and Thad Jones with arrangements by Ernie Wilkins and Neal Hefti. Covers the hit albums "April and Paris" and "Count Basie Swings, Joe Williams Sings" as well as the 1956 Metronome All Star album with Ella Fitzgerald.
  13. Well, I AM a Democrat after all, and not one of those "closet Republidems". . . .
  14. Just saw elsewhere (AAJ) that Mosaic has announced an 8 cd Basie set to come out in a few months! GREAT NEWS!

    Dylan SACDs

Just got notification that the cds I bought and my first monthly item shipped!
  16. Preordered the Mary Lou Williams "Mary Lou's Mass" from cduniverse, and added a few Peggy Lee Capitols I have been wanting.
  17. I haven't found a copy I would afford and haven't heard it (as I've had about four versions already) but "Presents" was/is a part of the TOCJ Bethlehem series, and that is likely the best sounding digital version yet. .. . .
  18. "AN IDEA:"--rather a BAD IDEA.
  19. Thanks for reminding me to pull this set out again!
  20. Now that you're old enough to drink and vote, don't overdo either!
  21. Yes Brandon, the Pablo lp. It's quite a nice lp! Listening to it right now. . . could definitely enjoy a sonic upgrade.. . though the lp has really nice piano recording (that resonance that MLW gets out of a piano is well represented) . . . .
  22. Had a spinach and cilantro salad topped with half an avacado, french vinaigrette dressing. :rsmile:
  23. Sometimes I think you're related to my wife! Sounds just like something she would/did say! I always seem to have stacks of empty jewel cases around so in my case she'd have not much trouble. B-)
  24. I have halved my storage needs by using slimiline doubles and maxislim cases whenever possible, not to mention slimline four cd cases when I have no or very little art. . . .
  25. I just listened to this again as I did some chores. . . . My favorite part is the final movement, how it starts off spare and builds up. I like the writing for the strings and the trumpet best on this disc. It's a good recording and deserves to be listened to again. I'll dig it out next weekend if I remember. Now its cousin McFarland with the "By the Time I get to Phoenix" on it. . . that has some really good and really bad stuff on it, almost in equal doese!
