  1. Sheila Jordan "Comes Love: Lost Session 1960" An interesting release--better singing than on a number of albums of the time and the sound is decent.
  2. That would be my reply as well. RVG for me--not really big on the DuNann sound.
  3. For me, Russ Freeman, though I really do like Hampton Hawes. Raymond Chandler or Dashiel Hammett?
  4. 1 to 5 PM for me, out for delivery. If it comes in the early portion of that time frame I might be able to listen to some. If not, I'll keep watching the excellent show "Doom Patrol."
  5. I believe it, this is a very nice pressing of this, have never heard vinyl of the US version.
  6. An Evening with Earl Hines" Vogue 2 LP set, record 1 Wow. This is indeed an amazing record set I have not played in some time and that's a shame. Hines having a good old time with great support. Bass – Hank Young Drums – Bert Dahlander Guitar – Tiny Grimes Lead Vocals – Earl Hines, Marva Josie Piano – Earl Hines
  7. I love Hadi with Mingus. This is the Blue Note appearance: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hank_Mobley_(album)
  8. Jimmy Knepper "Idol of the Flies" a reissue of the Bethlehem lp "A Swinging Introduction to Jimmy Knepper"
  9. Yesterday afternoon I tolerated the heat upstairs and I spent a little time with my turntable setup and spun a few LPs. I'm continuing this morning with this one, not an original by any means, a 180 gram pressing I bought really cheap about 7 years ago, possibly a Scorpio boot. Doesn't sound great. Doesn't sound bad either. Tyrone Washington "Natural Essence"
  10. Stanley Turrentine and the 3 Sounds "Blue Hour, Vol. 2" Toshiba Japan cd Followed by Ben Thomas "The Madman's Diffefence"
  11. I'm lucky in that they usually deliver about 2 or 3 PM, but it's so hot upstairs then this time of year, and after 5 or so I don't get to listen and with Friday (new release day) deliveries I usually don't get to listen on the weekends (working wife . . . so I let her control the weekends) and anticipation builds til Monday. I look forward to Monday many weeks! (That would be perverse years ago).
  12. Disc 3 which contains these two LPs from '65 and '68 Mose Allison "Mose Alive!" Mose Allison - piano, vocals Stanley Gilbert - bass Mel Lee - drums Mose Allison "I've Been Doin' Some Thinkin'" Mose Allison - piano, vocals Red Mitchell - bass Bill Goodwin - drums
  13. Goro Ito/Jacques Morelenbaum "Rendez-vous in Tokyo" cd Sublimely beautiful music in great sound.
  14. I live near an amazon warehouse/delivery center. If the cd is coming from there I can often track the disc on the amazon order page stop by stop with an area map. This however seems to be coming from elsewhere via Universal Direct.
  15. amazon says by 9 PM (8 PM Texas time) for me. yay!
  16. I like later Joyce, with her drummer husband, a bit better than earlier Joyce and this is a favorite. Joyce "Raiz"
  17. Lee Morgan "Delightfulee" SHM-CD
  18. John Beasley "Cauldron" Windom Hill Jazz cd An oldie. Has its moments
  19. Pumpkin Spice or hazelnut?
  20. Paul/Saul definitely. Without one many would know little of the other.
  21. In France on amazon.fr as well. Still Friday here in the US though.
  22. https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-complete-live-at-the-lighthouse-lee-morgan-dizzy-gillespie-art-blakey-max-roach-jack-de-johnette-dave-douglas-11629224092
  23. Getting ready for what I hope is still the release day, Friday, of the "complete" set. Lee Morgan, "Live at the Lighthouse" Blue Note Japan SHM-CD 2017 https://www.discogs.com/Lee-Morgan-Live-At-The-Lighthouse/release/11311739/image/SW1hZ2U6MzIxNjg1Nzg=
  24. Richard Sears Sextet (featuring Al "Tootie" Heath) "Altadena" These compositions and arrangements remind me of both Charles Mingus and Wynton Marsalis small ensemble recordings. A very nice disc. Followed by What may be my favorite Betty Carter album, the wonderful "I'm Yours. You're Mine" which showcases her supreme artistry as a singer, a song selector, an arranger and band leader (and also talent scout).
  25. I'm in with an order from amazon. . . expecting a shipping notice soon, actually looking forward to this one.
