  1. Their price just shot up to $28 plus change... [sigh] I hope it'll come down again. They're all $21.50 again. Maybe they are reading Hans' posts . Let's see if we can get them down to $19.50. I'll probably pop for a couple at the sale price.
  2. King Crimson - DISCIPLINE - WB LP
  3. For quite some time, for some reason or maybe no reason at all, I avoided King Crimson Now I find myself liking them: IN THE COURT OF THE CRIMSON KING- Atlantic LP.
  4. Bleeker Bob Gilligan Skipper
  5. The digital age gives artists complete control over what they put out. But sometimes it's good to have an Alfred Lion nearby who can say, "Nice try, but not one of your best efforts. Let's hold it." Or, "Good stuff, but there is too much out there at the moment." Not every note made needs to be "documented," especially at $15.95.
  6. J. Alfred Prufrock A.O. Lovejoy E.E. Cummings
  7. Albert Ammons Gene Ammons A.R. Ammons
  8. I wouldn't say I stopped following Brotzmann or Braxton, but for a while recently, each was releasing an overwhelming number of albums. Impossible to keep up with unless I considered not paying my mortgage. That forms a disincentive to stay with the artist. Right now Ivo Perelman is in the same mode. It seems he releases an album a month. It just stopped me in my tracks. Sometimes there can be too much of a good thing.
  9. Oddisee Ali G Ali Baba
  10. That is a very nice item! Seeing that inscription and autograph somehow personalizes him a little bit more. Curious to know how much Monk autographed; did he do a lot or is that a hard to find signature?
  11. I think I've mentioned how for the longest time I never came across any of the Atlas LPs that later formed the basis for the Art Pepper "Hollywood All-Star Sessions" box set, but recently they've been practically falling into my hands. The latest is the HIGH JINGO" Atlas LP with Konitz and Art Pepper.
  12. Gotta love that horn! Cecil Payne, BIRD GETS THE WORM, with Tom Harrell, Duke Jordan, Buster Williams, AL Foster.
  13. Vinny Golia and Urs Leimgruber also have a duo recording forthcoming soon from Relative Pitch. Looking forward to both.

  22. A very cool list, Ubu, obviously very well considered. Not that it matters, but I am in accord with most of your star ratings. A couple of questions. I've heard that the 4CD "Nation Time" box is a rather muddled affair, both sonically and programmatically. What do you think? Also surprised not to see the Barry Guy "Mad Dogs" box (more like folder) set. Did you pass on that one? Once again, a very nice list that will provide some leads to check out.
