  1. My timers are all set to record the next four nights on Fox... Yep, that means... I plan to watch Idol. :tups
  2. Doin' Allright - Dexter Gordon - Blue Note dark blue label from the 70's. "van gelder".
  3. ZZ Top - Tejas - on London with custom labels. Great guitar tones.
  4. Bennie Green - Back On The Scene is available from Classic Records as a 200gram mono Lp. $30. I've got one. I sounds good to me, but I've never heard an original.
  5. Dan, No, I don't really care for Satchmo much...at least not yet. -_-
  6. I don't suppose any of you could lead me to a site with audio samples, eh?
  7. Whoo hoo for Tjobbe! Have a great day.
  8. Oh, and I absolutely fucking hate Althea Young's vocals on those Larry Young Blue Note albums... Oh, God...make her stop. It sounds like a cat being strangled... Oooh... kinda harsh.
  9. Thanks Jim. Not sure if I should pull the trigger then... I'm only just barely getting into some jazz vocals...here's what I've enjoyed so far; it's not much...but all of these I really, really like: Ella Fitzgerald - Clap Hands Here Comes Charlie on Verve. Nice small group album. This one hit me immediately. Whereas, I didn't ever connect with her singing on that Cote D'Azure set with the Ellington orchestra.. Whoever that is singing "Hello to the Wind" on Bobby Hutcherson's "Now" album. Is that Andy Bey, I think? The vocalist on Horace Silver's "Senor Blues." Bill something, I think... Nancy Wilson & Cannonball Adderley- on Capitol. It's been a while, but I remember really diggin' her singing "A Sleepin' Bee." Chet? I've only heard him singing on the Limelight album, "Born To Be Blue." I haven't quite made up my mind about that one... Hmmm...I'm gonna hafta think pretty hard on this one. -_-
  10. Is it like his Cadet sides? I've heard some of those...
  11. Kenny sings? How is this session? Sell me on it...
  12. I don't think the "pay it forward" has to be instantaneous to make the concept valid. It's more about creating an atmosphere of giving, sharing, and good will. I'm sure the guys will get around to it. Yep, doesn't have to be instantaneous... But if you claim sump'n, you need to offer sump'n... You wouldn't want to tempt Karma, would you?
  13. "C'mon" "C'mon" "C'mon down" "C'mon down" "Sweet Virginia" Welcome Virginia!
  14. Happy B-day AB, wherever you may be!
  15. Tom, I'll probably post that tomorrow...I truly hope you dig it.
  16. I'm so glad you guys keep this thread going...you're the best! Up for grabs: Verve Elite Edition - Collector's Disc - 96/24 transfer. From the back cover: This collection unites under one roof an assortment of items as rare as hen's teeth: recently discovered outtakes - most of them previously unissued, many not even documented, and all dazzingly obscure. Here are the improvisers who can best demonstrate why jazz mavens relish alternative takes of familiar tunes: Included are new solos by the likes of Louis Armstrong, Bill Evans, Jimmy Smith, and Tal Farlow, and a fresh perspective on some of the classic Verve "encounters" of the Fifties and Sixties. Great jazz from the music masters to fill the gaps you never knew your collection had! ------------ A great set, that unfortunately, I rarely listen to...I thought someone else might enjoy it. Please post here first, then follow up with a PM containing where you'd like me to send it. Happy New Year, buds!
  17. Lon is even on iTunes! His review there of Alice Coltrane's "Lord of Lords" made me hit the "buy album" button.
  18. I usually download mine in one session, once a month. But then you guys go and recommend something and then I'm all buggin' cuz I have to wait.
  19. Miles Davis Plugged Nickel Lp set. Just got this in the mail yesterday. I won this from eBay; a partial, new unplayed set with box & booklet. Has 8 of 10 records, missing Records 1 & 5. List price new was near $200 with the shipping. My cost: $96 shipped! I'm thrilled as it's perfect!
  20. It's okay, Flatted 5th. No one ever listens to me either...
  21. Happy belated Birthday, Tony!
  22. Clapton's Crossroads. I still have mine.
  23. Thanks guys...sorry if I was harsh...
