  1. It's called "archiving." The current commercial CD issues could remain in print, right? If you want vinyl, buy Classics or buy used. So it's okay for Rudy or Classic Recs (Bernie G.) to use them, but not these guys? Say...you're not biased, are you? You haven't even heard 'em yet... Do you buy the Classic Recs reissues? (My money says you don't) Please help me understand your logic...
  2. So, what should they be saving these tapes for?
  3. read the tags...
  4. fake, internet thingy...
  5. Doesn't this one feature "The Knife"? (Baritone saxophonist Pepper Adams.)
  6. Must've been a real sexy pitpull...
  7. Geez Claude, why do we waste our time hanging out with these killjoys... This is freakin' incredible news!!! I have the Classic Records 45RPM version of Tina Brooks' "Back To The Tracks" and it is one of the best records I've ever had the pleasure of listening to. I'm sure these will surpass that one...Steve & Kevin are pretty much an unbeatable team in my experience. Oh boy, oh boy...this is gonna be great!!!
  8. Lon, You're the guy with the Sade fetish, right?
  9. Last Saturday, NBC replayed the episode of SNL that Ms. Johannson hosted earlier this year, which included musical guest Bjork. Scarlett is funny as hell! She can be so ghetto...She should become a new cast member. "Ya gotta get some MARBLE COLUMNS"!!! Man but she's gorgeous...
  10. I've been putting this off too. I have them now. Excellent! I've had them for a while now...need to listen more.
  11. Another for Shawn's avatar! I mean: Parkertown like Shawn's avatar too, and thinks he should never change it. 'Scepting if it's for a 'nother pic of that Earth Angel, Ms. Johannson...
  12. Hah! Made it in time this year... Happy Birthday Sidewinder.
  13. I need to dig that out again. That was one of my favorite releases last year; probably my favorite Donald Fagen work, as I like it better than anything he did with the Dan. (Didn't say it was better; I just like it more!) The Lp blows the cd out of the water! No contest... I did a kick-ass needledrop...
  14. "Play this record, and all your friends will leave"!
  15. Sure? Is anyone ever truly "sure" about anything? I'll put it another way: Do you really believe Blue Note, Prestige, whomever...really gave Scorpio the masters? I don't...
  16. Claude, Do they have really glossy covers, front and back? I've got the Lateef "Into Something" and has this matrix info: A= S 49162 3972 - NJ LP 8272 - 1 (A) B= NJ LP 8272 - 1 (B) S 49163 RE-1 and then some writing that looks like DeBVS These are Scorpio pressings from New York or New Jersey. I've got a few others and they're kinda hit or miss...mostly hit. They retail for $8.98-$11.98. They do Blue Notes too. Their pressing of Braith's "Two Souls in One" has all but the last song in mono. I've gotten a few bad ones too...with weird noises and pops. I'd say only buy them if your dealer allows returns. Oh, and they're most certainly from digital sources. But if it sounds good...
  17. Here's an image of the box posted on: http://www.miles-beyond.com/
  18. Just got back from seeing Diana Krall with opening act Chris Botti. A rainy night at Red Rocks. Shit, it poured...not so much during Botti's hour long set, but before Diana got going, it started with a pretty steady drizzle. Not cold at all, about 68 degrees. I really dig Chris Botti's tone, but hate the bands he plays with, including tonight's band. Yes, Billy Kilson could play the drums very fast, especially his cymbals, but it had no soul...I dug the slow ballads. The second song was a take on Miles'/Evans' " Flamenco Sketches." It was great at the beginning and all during Botti's solo, but then his guitarist started up, and they doubled the tempo...ick...not even a piano solo on this song that cries out for one. It poured steady all during Diana's set. They even had to push her piano and the other guys gear further back on the stage, but she was still getting wet...wiping down the piano and the keys every now and then. She could have dressed better for the conditions, (she took off her shoes and was playing barefoot!...not the best idea considering...) She should have put her hair up, cuz that was bothering her too... I could tell she wasn't having that good of a time, and suspected she'd bail soon...she did. After only about 70 minutes...I don't think she even played ten songs...certainly not more than that. A disappointment...considering the tickets were about $85 per... Damn but Jeff Hamilton is the shizzle...Anthony Wilson is pretty good too. This band plays jazz. Not sure what I'd call Chris Botti's music...? Jeff Hamilton has more musical talent than Botti's entire band put together... At least Diana played her killer version of "Let's Face The Music And Dance." Love that one... When she packed it in, my wife Shelley yelled out, " Play 'Popsicle Toes"!!! That got a few chuckles from the people around us. We had a good time, but would have gladly endured more rain for more playing by Diana and her band...
  19. I especially like the distinction between the categories: Latin Gringo Latin
  20. The $1 Lp bin... A record need not cost $30 to sound breathtaking...
  21. Keep it greazy... Happy Birthday SS!
  22. Why yes, they do...for $275!!! Holy Moly!!! Great Googly-Moogly!!!
  23. Happy Birthday to Shawn!
