LAjazz.com is saddened to report the passing of drummer Ralph Penland on Friday, March 14, 2014 at the age of 61.
Penland was a long-time fixture in the Los Angeles jazz scene as a musician, clinician and educator, and was on the staff of Pasadena City College. Penland's performance credits included Herbie Hancock, Carlos Santana, Frank Sinatra, Nancy Wilson, Freddie Hubbard, Hubert Laws, George Benson, Stan Getz, Kenny Burrell, Toots Thielemans, and many, many others.
LAjazz.com extends its condolences to the family and friends of Ralph Penland.
