  1. When I connect my RCA cable from my stereo to my computer (in order to digitize an lp or cassette tape) I hear the radio playing through my computer speakers, even when the stereo receiver is off. Strange. Any idea why this is happening and how I can stop that?
  2. Thanks to advances in speech therapy Porky Pig's stutter has been corrected! A long period of assimilation has made Pepe LaPew sound like Tom Brokaw! (Gerald Ford DEAD at the senseless age of 83, cherie.)

  4. Not good at remembering measurements so I missed the duration of Lindbergh's flight and the length of the flight at Kitty Hawk. 28/30.
  5. When I was growing up I looked forward more to Christmas Eve than Christmas Day because we were having gumbo! I made some seafood gumbo this year for our Christmas Eve. Lucky I had the day off to prepare it.
  6. May you have many more, and thanks for your posts here.
  7. Picked up on eBay this week. Gorgeous!
  8. Great announcers in the DC area over the years. Rusty Hassan, Rob Bamberger, Larry Applelbaum, etc. I love when Dick Spottswood dips into jazz on his shows!
  9. Delivered today. This sounds fantastic!
  10. Thanks for the recommendations and stories! I ordered Rockin' the Juke Joint Down.
  11. Can you recommend me some cds or iTunes downloads? Oh God, I loved this group when they played the Twist & Shout in Bethesda Maryland in the ? (late 80s, early 90s)
  12. I think LaRoche will do well with the White Sox. Washington needed to make room for Ryan Zimmerman to play first base. He's still a clutch hitter who needed a position. Third base has been won by Anthony Rendon.
  13. You could mix in some Cajun. If you have or could find some of Joseph and Cleoma Falcon's stuff on Decca it would be a great service. They dipped into the pop music of the day, as did Leo Soileau, and they have not been fully documented on the compilations.
  14. Not Euro but the Tompkins Square label is doing a lot with old music. Maybe worth a look.
  15. It's like the press doesn't even understand this song at all, from what I am reading. Have we forgotten?
  16. See http://copyright.gov/docs/sound/ "Although sound recordings were first given federal copyright protection in 1972, sound recordings made before February 15, 1972 remained protected under state law rather than under the federal copyright statute. As a result, there are a variety of legal regimes governing protection of pre-1972 sound recordings in the various states, and the scope of protection and of exceptions and limitations to that protection is unclear. Current law provides that pre-1972 sound recordings may remain protected under state law until February 15, 2067. After that date they will enter the public domain."
  17. Happy Birthday!
  18. Ricardo Montalban. Cordoba HAS what he needs.
  19. What happened? Nationals are not offering contracts to Adam LaRoche or Raphael Soriano. They DID make an offer to Denard Span.
  20. It's from the German. For people who used to garn the bums. Glad to see a close game in number 7, no blow out! Congratulations!
  21. Love the way this series is proving the experts wrong! "SF bound to win. Bochy never makes a mistake." Hello Game 2 "Royals bound to win. Bullpen too good!" Hello Game 4 This is one of the most enjoyable World Series in recent memory!
