sidewinder Posted August 11, 2020 Report Posted August 11, 2020 (edited) Yes - it has been for sale on Bandcamp. I had my suspicions on source as the John Thurlow book mentioned that the tapes were believed destroyed. This LP sounds to be from a master though - impeccable sound. Good news ! Cadillac have done a great job - flipback laminated sleeve  as well. to them ! Edited August 11, 2020 by sidewinder Quote

Within 2 days to my location. Two weeks - ridiculous ! They did mention by email today that the first press was about to run out and second press lined up. Suspect that is the reason. mjazzg Posted August 11, 2020 Report Posted August 11, 2020 Yes, i read the first pressing was sold out already somewhere. Listening now, lovely job done. Quote
sidewinder Posted August 11, 2020 Report Posted August 11, 2020 (edited) Strange that the master tapes turned up after that story in the book ! The Harry Beckett book by the way - like the Innovations In British Jazz tome by John Wickes - really could have used some serious editing as there are daft grammatical errors and some repetition even within sections. Still, it is gratifyingly full of detail and an obvious labour of love and for that it gets a big from me. There are gigs in there that I had seen with Harry and completely forgotten about until reminded from the text. The Claude Deppa African Big Band in 1999, for example. chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted August 11, 2020 Report Posted August 11, 2020  i can see why this one is so rare, it is very different, and in many ways the end of the real BN organ era. Ronnie Fosters hella good, but hes more a "keyboard" player, its more a keyboard albums those, not "organ" albums...... 3 hours ago, porcy62 said:  never seen that, either version Quote

A decent copy of this one has always eluded me and I missed the ‘Rare Groove’ version for some reason. Quote
clifford_thornton Posted August 11, 2020 Report Posted August 11, 2020 rare one -- have seen images before but never actually fingered a copy. Quote

By the time I got my own, it was The Gap Sealer, so hey, still good. Quote
