New Fantasy SACDs

CD Universe has had them availiable for pre-order for quite some time, but they just lowered the price to $13.99, so I picked up the Getz/Tjader, Art Pepper, Bags & Wes, and Benny Carter. I don't have an SACD player, but several of the Fantasy SACDs I've purchased sound just as good as the K2's on my stereo.

Any comments on these or any of the other releases? The only one I've heard is the Benny Carter, which is defintiely upgrade-worthy in my book.

Apparently, these are hybrid SACDs, which is good news for me since I don't own an SACD player, but have been looking forward to an upgrade for the Getz/Tjader!

I'd be surprised if Bags Meets Wes turned out to be a sonic upgrade; the tapes seem to be in a terrible state.

That's right, but if I remember correctly there were posts about the deterioration of the tapes on the Steve Hoffman forum.

I had the Japanese Digital K2 remastered version, and that one didn't sound great.

Some day they will transfer mega audio CD reissues from 1960's LP pressings, I'm afraid.

I will go for the Getz/Tjader - have only an old bad pressing of this.
