JSngry Posted December 9, 2004 Report Posted December 9, 2004 How long has it been on ABC? I remember watching the original airing (and a few after) on CBS. What about the Norelco snowman? They had that when I was a little kid! Quote

JSngry Posted December 9, 2004 Report Posted December 9, 2004 What about the Norelco snowman? They had that when I was a little kid! My bad, it's the Norelco Santa. You know, riding down the snow on a Norelco. WAY cool. Quote
Big Al Posted December 9, 2004 Report Posted December 9, 2004 How long has it been on ABC? I remember watching the original airing (and a few after) on CBS. Not exactly sure. I thought it was on CBS for quite some time. All of the Charlie Brown specials used to air on CBS for the longest time. The switch was recent, sometime in the last five years, but I don’t remember exactly when or why. Quote
JSngry Posted December 9, 2004 Report Posted December 9, 2004 Can't fins an image of the Norelco Santa anywhere. Humbug. Quote
maren Posted December 9, 2004 Report Posted December 9, 2004 Watch it, Thursday night on ABC. THANK YOU CATESTA!!! Love Charlie Brown Christmas! It's Thursday 12/16/04. Thanks!! Quote

Joe G Posted December 9, 2004 Report Posted December 9, 2004 Also, things don't start to happen for me until I've seen "A Charlie Brown Christmas". I'm mesmerized by the scene in which they're all humming "Silent Night" with their mouths up in the air, and they all breathe at the exact same moment with the exact same expression. I like the scene where Snoopy is mocking Lucy during her rant. Cracks me up everytime, especially when he jumps up on her head and mimics a vulture for no reason. What can I say? My wife's favorite part is when all the kids start dancing for no apparent reason in the middle of Charlie Brown's rant on directing. Every kid has a different dance and each one is goofy. She cracks up every time at that scene! I forgot about that! Another good'un. Quote
patricia Posted December 17, 2004 Report Posted December 17, 2004 (edited) I thought that tragedy had struck and I had MISSED the Charlie Brown Christmas Special. BUT, I'm watching it now on ABC. It's at my favourite part, when Charlie Brown is the director of the play. The wild dancing sequence just finished and the part that I love is Pigpen's bass exploding dust as he plays it. Hilarious!!! Oh and the part where Linus, when asked by Lucy if he will still have his blanket when he grows up says, "I will be making a nice sport coat". Love this!!! Now there is a Part II. It's about a skating show in which Lucy needs a partner. I've never seen this one before. Edited December 17, 2004 by patricia Quote
Big Al Posted December 17, 2004 Report Posted December 17, 2004 Yes, yes, YES!!! Total agreement about the kids singing around the tree! Also love Snoopy’s mocking of Lucy! Or how about when Snoopy does the little kick-dance with his supper dish? I still get choked up when Linus walks over and says, “That’s what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown.” Have you noticed how Linus puts down his "security blanket" when he recites the words ".... Fear not!..." Now that you mention it, I remember that really struck me long ago -- but I haven't watched this in years... I watched this tonight and noticed it for the first time in over 30 years of watching this special! That was so nice, I felt a shiver go down my back! Thanks again for pointing that out! Quote

For me, it isn't a real Charlie Brown special without it. You can see it here. (requires RealPlayer). Quote
Peter Johnson Posted December 17, 2004 Report Posted December 17, 2004 Oh my god, Alexander, that totally takes me back--the spinning logos and the great sound effects: buh-duh-dee-duh-buh-duh-dee-duh-buh-duh-dee-duh-buh-duh-dee-duh-DEEEEEEEEEEE! Gettin' all misty just thinking about it! Quote

Now that you mention it, it DOES seem sorta strange not having that precede the Charlie Brown Christmas! Quote
