Brad Posted December 18, 2004 Report Posted December 18, 2004 Whoevever it is, looks like he's playing in a real dive. I'm inclined to say somewhere down south just because it looks like a wood constructed building. Quote
bertrand Posted December 18, 2004 Report Posted December 18, 2004 That should help pin it down. There are not too many known occurrences of jazz musicians playing in dives Bertrand. Quote

Rooster_Ties Posted December 18, 2004 Report Posted December 18, 2004 (edited) Whoevever it is, looks like he's playing in a real dive. I'm inclined to say somewhere down south just because it looks like a wood constructed building. That looks pretty much just like the wood paneling in my parents' basement, in the same house the belonged to my grandparents originally (the house my Dad grew up in, and still lives in to this day, at the age of 79). I just called him, and he said the basement was redone in 1954 (I thought that kind of paneling was popular in the 50's), so I don't think we're necessarily looking at "wood construction" that particulalry implies The South. Could be anywhere. Edited December 18, 2004 by Rooster_Ties Quote

Michael Fitzgerald Posted December 18, 2004 Report Posted December 18, 2004 Well, shoot, when you called your dad did you ask whether they ever had bands down there in the basement at any point? Mike Quote
alankin Posted December 18, 2004 Report Posted December 18, 2004 (edited) Doesn't look familiar to me... Hmm, it seems that Chris has attached a print of the image that's different from the one that Dmitry posted. Where did he find that print? Could he know more than he's admitting? Mysterious. marcello Posted December 18, 2004 Report Posted December 18, 2004 As a Builder, that looks like 1"x6" and 1"x8" Tounge and Groove, solid pine paneling which is actually a higher grade than you would find in Dad's basement! Since that type of material originates in the South, the club could be there. To me it looks a little like a young Steve Davis who played with Coltrane and is /was from Philly. Quote
