Craig23 Posted January 29, 2005 Report Posted January 29, 2005 (edited) Don't know anything about the seller but that is a damn good price. (minus box/booklet) eBay: Eldridge Mosaic Edited January 29, 2005 by Craig23 Quote
JSngry Posted January 29, 2005 Report Posted January 29, 2005 It's also a damn good set, to say nothing of still being WAY in-print and available from Mosaic. Quote
sjarrell Posted January 29, 2005 Report Posted January 29, 2005 Boy, that was a damn good price. Quote

JSngry Posted January 29, 2005 Report Posted January 29, 2005 The commentary by Dan Morgenstern is easily worth an extra howmanyever bucks... Quote
sjarrell Posted January 29, 2005 Report Posted January 29, 2005 The commentary by Dan Morgenstern is easily worth an extra howmanyever bucks... I'm pretty sure it'd be bad form to ask Mosaic if they'd sell me a box and booklet to go with my eBay discs. So I'm just gonna have to take your word for it... Quote

Brad Posted January 29, 2005 Report Posted January 29, 2005 Doubly correct. I missed this one but without the book, forget it. That's what a Mosaic, a Mosaic. I'd rather pay for the whole thing. Quote
JSngry Posted January 29, 2005 Report Posted January 29, 2005 You've far from missed it, Brad. Been out just a little over a year, I think. Still gloriously available and highly recommended. Quote
J.A.W. Posted January 29, 2005 Report Posted January 29, 2005 I keep wondering where all these cheap Mosaics without boxes and booklets that are being offered on eBay are coming from... The back of a truck, maybe? Quote

JSngry Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 Enjoy! (And tell others if you do - this one's not yet generated much heat in these parts, and that, my friend, is just plain wrong!) Quote
jazzbo Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 I have nearly all this material, and it's quite interesting stuff. Roy had an attitude that was just guaranteed to make exciting music 99% of the time. A few of these sessions don't quite make me grab for them with gusto, but most really deliver! Quote
vibes Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 Having had the Verve Elite of "Swingin' on the Town" for about a year has made me really excited about picking up this box - love that session! Funds have been tight for a little while, but I'm planning a large Mosaic purchase (3-4 large boxes and 2-3 Selects) for March or April, and the Eldridge box is at the top of the list. I think I'll also be buying: Tal Farlow Farmer-Golson Jazztet Dexter Gordon Select Andrew Hill Select ...and possibly a few others, like the Sarah Vaughn or Anita O'Day sets. Can't wait! Quote
Michael Fitzgerald Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 (edited) Those who have little love for jazz - oops, make that: Those who have love for Little Jazz - should tune in to the WKCR Roy Eldridge birthday broadcast - www.wkcr.org - 24 straight hours on the air, nothing but Roy. This is why we can't afford to lose WKCR ever. Add up all the Roy broadcast by every other radio station in the world this year and you're not going to get 24 hours.
