Watching Spartacus final season, and about to watch the third season of Luther (all four episodes on the DVR!) Been watching Hell on Wheels as well, which is an entertaining AMC show.

Yeah, otoh, low-budget cheesey concept (and often, execution). OTOH, oddly prescient in its depiction of WE WANT IT NOW student protests of the 60s and how the kid with the beach house doesn't wanna hear it when his dad tells him that the beach house is there because Dad plays politics. One wonders where the kid is 20 years later, what kind of beach house he does or doesn't have now and how happy he is about it, and oh yeah, Kent State, that's right, The Man WILL kill your ass if it comes to that, so maybe a beach house is better than getting killed for being right, or at least a reasonable-enough consolation, being right is only what you want when you can predict the consequences, depends on how you look at it, and from where. Maybe. But it's a trip to watch this from a 1961 perspective, and then superimpose the realities of 1971, and then 1981, and so forth and so forth. This is not a juvenile deliquescent sex film, this is about student idealism trumping all, and in 1961, that was not a widely considered notion, never mind a widely acted-upon impulse.

It ended up being a lot better than I was expecting, and it had kind of a "Western" feel to it, what with Right vs Wrong Ultimate showdowns and stuff like that. But...early on when the kids are speeding to school The Day After, is that a Rolls parked on the street, just casually sitting there amongst all the other occasional cars? That tripped my wife and myself out!

Streaming Netflix. Loving it, for sure!

The Newsroom. I really wish this show was a full-season instead of the 9-10 episodes it's getting right now, it is so enjoyable I want a lot more of it!

Got better & better as the season progressed. I like it too. Season finale this Sunday.

For the first few episodes I thought I wasn't going to like this - seemed to have all the common set pieces of war films was a hefty dollop of sentimentality. But it darkened in episode 4 on the hospital island and the beach landing in episode 5 was harrowing.

Yes, I have been watching this with my Dad slowly, it's tough going for him, he's not as jaded to the violent portrayals. Powerful stuff. Grittier than Band of Brothers imo.

I've probably mentioned this British series before, but...................

"Luther" IMO, is right up there, for quality, with "Breaking Bad."

Stellar performances from every member of the cast, both main and supporting.

Clever, involving plots that keep you watching each scene and caring about the characters.

If you liked Idris Elba in "Wired", you will love him as John Luther.

I recommend that you start at the beginning, with Season 1 and follow that with Season 2, ending with Season 3. Important to get to know all the recurring roles.

Don't stop when they start showing the end credits because much of the summing up is done with short scenes, between the credits.

Again, this, IMO, is one of the very best crime series I've seen for years, along, of course, with "Breaking Bad."

See if I'm not right.

You're right Patricia, "Luther" is an excellent show. I have all four episodes of the Third Season on my DVR, just waiting for a time when I can watch all four back to back! Loved the first two seasons.

Good plan. Even though there are only 3 seasons, so far, I hope that they continue to explore this character. It would be a shame if this is it. However, he's still alive, as are most of the main characters, especially Alice, at the end of the last episode, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Hope that wasn't a spoiler for you.;)
