Well, I just returned from breakfast w/Chuck and Ann, Eric, Rooster Tom, Chuck's brother Craig (the father of the groom) and my wife JoDee. All really good people- we had a very nice time in spite of the rainy weather. I could listen to Chuck "spinnin' his yarns" all day! And Ann is a sweetheart. I'm sure the others will post comments. Ann took a picture to be posted here eventually. :alien:

And I scored a copy of the new Bird CD! Chuck even signed it for me.

I sure look forward to meeting people from the board- it's like a family reunion even though you're meeting for the first time! I think after this morning my wife now better understands why I spend so much time here. I'm glad she joined us.

I really would like to get out Michigan to see the band. Hopefully soon before they achieve uber-success and split up! :o:g

Thanks again Rooster for getting this hang started! I hope you enjoy the rest of your trip Chuck!

As Paul mentions, a good time was had by one and all. Kudos to Craig for putting up with us, particularly on this big day for him :tup

It was quite a kick to hear the details from Chuck about the "the find" ... I felt like I was about nine and huddling with my buddies over baseball cards!

One of the best stories came from Free For All Paul, whose lovely wife JoDee also plays the trombone - classical however, not jazz. Prior to marrying JoDee, Paul lived above a bakery in Chicago. After she moved in with him, the folks at the bakery apparently commented, "so when did you forget how to swing?"

Anyway, it was a blast and Chuck, I'm glad you took the time to look us up. And Ann, I hope you got your ribs!!!

Well, I'm finally catching up and want to respond about our KC visit.

We really enjoyed meeting Tom, Eric, Paul and JoDee. What an interesting bunch of folks. I'd love to spend a long evening with every one of them with some good music and a drink or two. <_<

It was an interesting experience for Craig - he (like the rest of the family) has no understanding of my interests/business and wondered how or why anyone in KC would meet with us. He and his family have lived in the KC area all their adult lives - he works at Tension Envelope and Winnie is an exec at Hallmark.

Thanks to all for the wonderful time and thanks to Rooster for the music - I've only listened to the first disc so far but it is a dandy.

If any of the participants want a higher quality file of the pic, let me know.

PS: Craig commented on Rooster's "really good voice" when we sang Happy Birthday!

Obviously the KC crew does not miss many meals  :P

Hey, we'd all just eaten a huge breakfast. :o

The main thing is we all look reasonably alert and reasonably bright. :)

PhotoShopping to show our heads was a remote possibility. :bad:

Hey KC folk! I will be out in Kansas City, MO for two weeks beginning August 22. My employer is headquartered in KC. The main objective of my trip will be technical training (Adobe) and I was hoping some of you would have some time during that two week period to show an East Coaster what the Midwest is all about!

I'd love to meet all of you. Nessa, you up for another trip?

Some people wear their hearts on their sleeve. Others keep them up their sleeve. I suppose we all should have guessed... Chuck wears his heart on his pelvis.

I got that buckle courtesy of Mr. Roy Eldridge, so I'll wear it 'til I drop. :)

Is anyone else finding their brains full of one liners involving "little jazz" about right now...?
