Guest Posted August 5, 2005 Report Posted August 5, 2005 Hi Folks! I recently bought the Columbia/Legacy 2002 CD of MONK'S DREAM. When I listened to the album with headphones, I heard voices in the background on Track 2 (Body & Soul). They are low, but they are definitly there. So now I wonder, if this is some kind of failure on this edition or if this voices are present on all editions of this (great) album?!? Greetz, Sonny Quote
couw Posted August 5, 2005 Report Posted August 5, 2005 I think you are hearing Monk himself moaning along. His whole body was in spasms when playing, including his vocal chords. Indeed a great album Quote
mikeweil Posted August 5, 2005 Report Posted August 5, 2005 The most probable explanation, for sure. Another would be the others (or the producer) talking, and being picked up by the piano mic. Since they were all in the same room playing this would be a possibility. But it really should be Monk grunting along. Quote
Guest Posted August 5, 2005 Report Posted August 5, 2005 Hi Guys! No, it's not Monk moaning and grunting. This voices are very, very low in volume and seem to be somewhere in the background. Also it sounds like there are different voices - male and female. Maybe really some chatter between some people in the studio - but I doubt that they were in the same room, so how can this chatter end up on the record? Greetz, Sonny Quote
Dan Gould Posted August 5, 2005 Report Posted August 5, 2005 Are you sure their the voices of people? Maybe what you're hearing is this. Quote
Guest Posted August 5, 2005 Report Posted August 5, 2005 Are you sure their the voices of people? Pretty much, yes. Hey, I'm not an audiophile or so and I do not own high-end equipment, so when I can hear this voices, anybody who owns this CD should be able to hear them, when listening closely with a headphone. Maybe what you're hearing is this. ← Hm,......no, I don't think so Greetz, Vodo Quote
JSngry Posted August 5, 2005 Report Posted August 5, 2005 You'd be surprised how many albums you can hear the odd vocies on when listening through headphones. Not conversations or anything, just the occasional utterances. Quote
Randy Twizzle Posted August 5, 2005 Report Posted August 5, 2005 This headphone amp promises that you'll hear a lot more: http://www.headphone.com/products/headphon...s/the-max-line/ "• Max Balanced Amp. No one needs this amp; there’s just no excuse for it. Unless, of course, you can afford thoughts like, “I can hear the cellist breathing through his nose. He needs to clip his nose hairs.” Personally, we have a hard time thinking at all when we listen to this amp. " Quote
Claude Posted August 6, 2005 Report Posted August 6, 2005 I can't hear voices on that track, apart from Monk's moaning, which sounds very much in the background because the piano is closely miked. Quote
Jazz Kat Posted August 7, 2005 Report Posted August 7, 2005 You'd be surprised how many albums you can hear the odd vocies on when listening through headphones. Not conversations or anything, just the occasional utterances. ← This happens on numerous occations. It doesn't seem to annoy me that much. Quote
Guest Posted August 7, 2005 Report Posted August 7, 2005 Thanx Guys - whatever it is, seems like I have to live with it Greetz, Sonny Quote
