Hardbopjazz
The only ones that come to the top of my head are Max Roach and Hank Jones. Are there any others?

BruceH
Roy Haynes ← Yeah. Now that Lucky Thompson has passed away, he's the only one who comes readily to mind. (Aside from Max Roach and Hank Jones that is.) Edited September 23, 2005 by BruceH

As recent as April of this year. Not bad for an 89 year old!

That's good to hear. It was at the Cafe des Copains where I saw him in solo recital (now the Montreal Bistro, I think). Great show. Around the same time I also saw Sir Charles Thompson (another one for the Bird list, I think). Stony Plain - that's a great little label out of Edmonton, Alberta Edited September 23, 2005 by sidewinder
BruceH
Sir Charles Thompson is still around? That's great, too. I always liked his work.
