neveronfriday Posted October 26, 2005 Report Posted October 26, 2005 How many more Impulse Remixed-, Verve Downmixed-, Blue Note Upmixed-, Katie Meluah-and-Jamie-Cullum-crap-mix-mails are the various jazz labels going to send out? Why do I actually sign up for an e-mail newsletter with jazz labels if they don't put out any more jazz? No, I don't want to see Jamie Cullum, Peter Cincottit, Katie Meluah or any other 14-year old new jazz sensation live ... and I don't want to buy their stuff either. And I don't want to have or hear about another jazz remix project. NEVER. AGAIN. @@**! I'm going to have my name removed from every label newsletter, change my e-mail address, move house, ... What a bunch of freakin' clowns. Thanks for listening. Quote
mikeweil Posted October 26, 2005 Report Posted October 26, 2005 Not to mention the never ending pile of compilations ..... Quote
neveronfriday Posted October 26, 2005 Author Report Posted October 26, 2005 (edited) It's my own fault that I signed up for this shite, but it is amazing to see how many potential customers these labels scare off by endlessly sending these ****ing mails. If it wasn't for jazzmatazz (and the big O., of course) I wouldn't really be informed of what's new or what is being re-released. I think all the labels should give their money to jazzmatazz and just close their own PR shops down. Edited October 26, 2005 by neveronfriday Quote
mikeweil Posted October 26, 2005 Report Posted October 26, 2005 (edited) Remember we are a rare breed, a minority among minorities. Jazz CD sales in Germany are between 1 and 5 % of all CDS sold, and among these, those who know and are really intereted are only a small part - most jazz CDs are bought by newbies or casual listeners. And if you deduct sales of those who are categorized as jazz, but really aren't ...... Sad but true. But I know how you feel - I thumb through Universal's Jazz Echo magazine only for the one page that lists the reissues, and the number that is worth buying decreases with each issue. I won't complain - buying less CDs is only good for me right now! Edited October 26, 2005 by mikeweil Quote

Ron S Posted October 26, 2005 Report Posted October 26, 2005 I think all the labels should give their money to jazzmatazz and just close their own PR shops down. Since I am geographically closest to Alan, I have taken the liberty of appointing myself his agent for purposes of negotiating all record label deals. Quote

And I won't mention any names, but you put all your competition to shame. (Why do they even bother to try to reinvent the wheel?) Arguably one of the most important jazz sites on the entire Internet. neveronfriday Posted October 28, 2005 Author Report Posted October 28, 2005 And another one. Verve Club No.5 opened in Berlin. Dancefloor jazz. With DJ Impulse, VJ: OchoReSotto and Mark Murphy? If that ain't eclectic bull. Get effing lost. I forgot to remove my name from the Verve list. But I'm about to ... Quote
