Miles Davis Quintet w/Coltrane

The best sound I personally have heard on the Paris material is the Sony/Trema versions in those cool black digipaks. . . . I haven't heard the Laser Light versions though. . . .

I don't know of any other release of the Copenhagen material, or of any extra material available. . . .

BTW, it sounds like I should look for this Paris material but can you guys recommend the best version? You know: best sound, all of the tunes, good price, availability, etc.

Probably the single disc digipacks?

I have the older Trema 4CD set. I have no issues with sound, but then I'm no audiophile. The plus of that version is a very nice booklet with material documenting the controversis that arose after the Paris crowd/critics/musicians were more or less shocked by that angry man on tenor... interesting stuff, that I assume you will neither have in the cheapo laserlight edition nor in the digipack edition.

This is what I have:

And this is how the (single disc) digipacks look:

Trane, March 1960:

Stitt from October 1960:

There seems to be a new version of the 4CD box-set, too:

Then here's the Laserlight cheapo edition:

And here's the Zurich release on Jazz Unlimited (I like this one a lot - am I alone here?):

Coincidentally (or perhaps not) the Copehangen set (previously on Royal Jazz) has this week been issued as Live in Copenhagen on the Gambit label (bulked out with a stray 'bonus' track from the 1963 Antibes festival). I have no details on this label but it looks to be another shady Lonehillesque outfit. They've also put out the Zurich concert. No reason to go for that while the Jazz Unlimited version is out there (another :tup from me for the Zurich set). The Royal Jazz set has been impossible to find for ages though.
