Jim Alfredson Posted December 20, 2005 Report Posted December 20, 2005 Some people here have expressed interest in the other band I play with, Root Doctor. We are a rhythm & blues five piece and our new CD is coming out in January. If you'd like, you can check out samples, pre-order the disc, etc. on the Root Doctor website: www.rootdoctorband.com Enjoy! Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted December 20, 2005 Report Posted December 20, 2005 Nice indeed. I heard the material in an unfinished form and enjoyed it a bunch. Lots of luck guys. Anxious to hear the finished version of "Been A Long Time Coming". Quote
Man with the Golden Arm Posted December 21, 2005 Report Posted December 21, 2005 Such a sweet sound there Jim. Some very righteous keybs over top on "Hold On". Quote
Tom 1960 Posted December 21, 2005 Report Posted December 21, 2005 Excellent stuff, Jim. Me and My Wife is a real nice number. Look for me to be a customer. I'm sold. Quote

Anxious to hear the finished version of "Been A Long Time Coming". Thanks Chuck. Been A Long Time Coming finished up very nice, imo. Been getting great feedback on that one, and the mastering process really brought everything together nicely. Did you notice which song we ended with? Thanks for your programming guidance and suggestions. I think picking song order may have been the hardest part of this process. Well, that and singing the vocal bends on the end of Love Bones. g p.s. oh, almost forgot to mention, organissimo's own Jim Alfredson is singing lead on the title track. and he kicks butt!! Quote

Hi Tom, sorry haven't been at the blues site much. Things have been crazy on the homefront; trying to get this Root Doctor release happening, helpin' Jim and the James Brothers with the organissimo band, takin' care of two little ones, and getting ready for the holidays. At any rate, thanks for your kind comments. Regarding "Me and My Wife", Freddie and I wrote that one, but Jim really wanted to call it me and YOUR wife. lol You know, just to make it more of a blues tune. I was game... but Freddie had other ideas...maybe next record. Greg Nagy p.s. Big O Records is a artist owned label. We are in debt up to our eyeballs on this one, but we had fun making it. Recorded through the legendary Muscle Shoals Neve consel to two-inch tape we feel we have produced a very warm and soulful record. To anyone who does pre-order via the website, or even after the release date pls know that your support is greatly appreciated. Quote

GregN Posted December 23, 2005 Report Posted December 23, 2005 I just listened to one sample, and that singer has real soul! Looks like I'm buying another disc soon! Many thanks! Both Jim and I sing lead on a tune on the CD, but Freddie has a voice as big and as rich as Texas. Wait till you hear Freddie on the Rainy Night cover! Greg Quote

Parkertown Posted December 24, 2005 Report Posted December 24, 2005 WHAT!!!! You play in TWO bands?!?! Freakin' incredible! When do you find the time? The depths of your talents are limitless! Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted December 24, 2005 Author Report Posted December 24, 2005 I don't know about that (and thank you for the compliments), but I've been in RD since 1998 and organissimo since 2000. It's not too hard when this is all you do. No day job for me (just taking care of the little one while momma works). I'm very proud of RD. For the longest time, we were just your (better than) average bar band and my main bread-winning job, but I think we've achieved something very special with this CD. The addition of Greg into the group has helped shift the focus (finally) to original tunes and highlighting Freddie's voice. I really think he is one of the best blues/soul singers I've ever heard. Period. I've done "jazz" gigs with him and he can sing standards, too. He's the real deal. Quote
