catesta Posted December 31, 2005 Report Posted December 31, 2005 (edited) Any plans? Nothing big for me. Taking the lady out for dinner to a little neighborhood Italian place that has some live jazz going on. A group lead by an alto player named Julian Meyers. I've never heard of him before but it looks like it's worth checking out. I've got a bottle of Asti chilled for after dinner at home. Happy New Year to all at the Big O! Dan Gould Posted December 31, 2005 Report Posted December 31, 2005 The wife bought a big old Omaha Steaks sampler with her Christmas orders, we're going to break out a couple of steaks and stuffed baked potatos, probably pop the bottle of bubbly and be fast asleep long before midnight ... Happy New Year, all! Quote

chris olivarez Posted December 31, 2005 Report Posted December 31, 2005 I've got a couple of bottles of some good Champagne that I plan to consume in the safety of my home and I'm going to listen to a shitload of music. That's a lot more enjoyable afaic than interacting with the amateurs. Happy New Year everyone!!!! Quote
makpjazz57 Posted December 31, 2005 Report Posted December 31, 2005 Some friends, some food, some champagne and I'll be up 'til at least midnight, mainly because I'm a night owl! Marla Quote
DukeCity Posted December 31, 2005 Report Posted December 31, 2005 Playing a gig at one of the casinos in the area. It's a Motown/Soul revue with a group of guys doing 4Tops/Temptations/Spinners stuff, a guy doing a Stevie Wonder set, and a female singer doing Aretha and Tina Turner stuff. The show should be kinda fun, but the rehearsal today was BRUTAL! Then, I'll have to dodge the drunk drivers on my way home. I swore off NYE gigs for several years, but took this one 'cause they made it worth my while. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!! Quote
Peter Johnson Posted December 31, 2005 Report Posted December 31, 2005 (edited) A quiet dinner at a restaurant a block away with three friends at nine o'clock; Back to the apartment for plenty o' red wine, old vinyl, and watching the fireworks from the deck. What could be better? Happy new year! Edited December 31, 2005 by Peter Johnson Quote

Joe G Posted January 1, 2006 Report Posted January 1, 2006 Didn't have any plans, or invites until a few moments ago - my neighbors just invited me to have drinks with them, so in the interest of good relations, I'll do just that. Everyone be safe tonight, and have a great 2006! Quote

Son-of-a-Weizen Posted January 1, 2006 Report Posted January 1, 2006 Anyone playing dress up and doing the New Years Day dinner thing? Not something we've done before.......but..... cruising the grocery store aisles on Fri., saw that they had turkey at 24 cents/lb so I lugged home a 22 lb unit thinking that it might be fun for us to break out the china from last weekend and have a sit down. The bird's now in the oven.....gonna scoop up all sorts of odds & ends for the stuffing in the casserole-- leftover hamburger buns, potato sandwich bread...a baguette....w/some green onions, raisins, chopped apples....maybe some clear onion broth and an egg. Hmmm, what else to toss in there???? Woah, this is weird.......no relatives hanging about the place either. Quote
