birdanddizzy
Hi, I've two LPs with duets of the jazz pianists Art Simmons and Jack Diéval recorded in the 60s in Paris. The sound is amazing (with great Steinways) and there is a good harmony between the two pianists. The sidemen are Michel Gaudry (b) & Daniel Humair (dm) on the first LP, and Jimmy Woode (b) and Franco Manzecchi (dm) on the other. Do you know if something similar have been recorded (with two pianos) ? Thanks Edited January 6, 2006 by BirdAndDizzy
jazzbo
I recently flipped myself out yet again to the beautiful duets between Tommy Flanagan and Barry Harris on several Monk tunes on the BMG video "Thelonious Monk: An American Composer." Outstanding! I also have a soft spot in my musical heart for a Savoy lp that paired Eddie Costa and John Mehegan, "A Pair of Pianos." Also like the odd but great "The Country And Western Sound of Toshiko Akiyoshi and Steve Kuhn" on I think Audio Fidelity.

Ken Dryden
Piano Duets are one thing I love to hear... Dick Hyman and Dick Wellstood Dick Hyman and Ralph Sutton Marian McPartland and practically everyone Earl Hines and Jaki Byard Jaki Byard and Ran Blake John Lewis and Hank Jones are among the many titles represented in my collection. Byard told me about an unreleased session he did with Tommy Flanagan, but Fantasy/Concord says it isn't in their Prestige holdings.

king ubu
Here's another thread: http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...&hl=piano+duets I think there's yet one more, but maybe that one was on a different BB? One that hasn't been mentioned so far and I like quite some:
