75 downloads for 19.99...

That's the the deal I have.

I spent most of this month on The Rolling Stones, since I only know their big hits.

Its great to be able to get the mp3s of the Stone stuff I have on vinyl.

Make sure to at least get Beggars and Let It Bleed as they are two of the best records of all time, and the singles/b-sides Child Of The Moon, Memo From Turner and the cover of I Don't Know Why (aka Don't Know Why I Love You).

All part of a free trial!

In addition, it's worth checking the Chandos main site and this place for Chandos downloads, Tony:

http://www.classicsonline.com/

(I use the latter for Naxos now).

The main Chandos site now has very high quality files as an option.

I find e-music is great, except for albums with lots of short tracks. An album with 25 tracks can eat up your monthly quota quite quickly.

Thanks Bev. I've used them once before and I noticed the bitrates were more impressive than the eMusic files. They certainly have a good choice. To be completely honest, I'm downloading because our PC's CD drive is on the blink at the mo. The large pile of discs I've recently bought is waiting to go on the iPod but obviously I can't upload them until it's fixed. So in the meantime, a bit of a turnaround on the iPod is required for some fresh listening!

Your point about the short tracks is spot on. I was about to download the recent release of Rusalka then realised for all those very short tracks I could have the same amount of very long tracks instead. A true Yorkshireman eh? "..'appen".

Weird, it is gone. I saw they added it again the other day, but now they're both gone.

^ Yes he does, I would listen to the man sing the phone book. One of the few records by him I didn't have. His last Blame The Vain was one of his best.

The Eddie Palmieri and the Paul Bley trio also kicks ass. Even when I am pissed at emusic for taking away the main things I wanted to download I still come away with great stuff.

eMusic people with a Circuit City close by should check this out. They are offering essentially a 65 track booster pack for $4.95 this week. It's a little box that says starter subscription, but you can use these with an existing sub. Good luck with the help at CC, but it's in the circular for reference.

Saw those and tagged them just because they looked interesting. Don't know anything about her, otherwise. I take it you recommend them, Skid?

Yes! "Black Unstoppable" is also available on DVD from Delmark (recorded at the Velvet Lounge), and it's very good.

"Xenogenesis Suite" is her latest release, and is on Firehouse 12 (not Delmark, as I may have implied above). I've have not heard it yet, but will be downloading or buying the CD soon.
