bertrand Posted March 7, 2006 Report Posted March 7, 2006 (edited) Lon, You say you know a label rep for Tuff City? Elsewhere, Jim had posted a thread concerning a Dewey Redman LP on this label called 'Jazz Horns for DJs' or something like that. Could you ask your friend how we could score a copy of this? Thanks, Bertrand. Edited March 7, 2006 by bertrand Quote
bertrand Posted March 7, 2006 Report Posted March 7, 2006 (edited) I corrected a typo to make my posting comprehensible, not that it seems to have stopped Jim On the topic of Dewey Redman (and off the topic of Ray Charles), was anyone ever able to get a copy of his gig at UNC with the student orchestra a couple of years ago? I saw this mentioned on the web. Apparently it's so-so (not enough Dewey, too much students), but I still want to buy a copy, as it's Dewey's only recording in a while, other than the thing with Arthur Blythe which is still not scheduled for release. Sorry to bootleg the thread. Back to brother Ray. Bertrand. Edited March 7, 2006 by bertrand Quote
jazzbo Posted March 7, 2006 Report Posted March 7, 2006 Well, a friend of mine has started dating the distributor rep in Dallas. . . .She's into the r and b side and not so much jazz, definitely nothing that is not mainstream jazz. He heard about this Charles coming out, but he never hears about jazz from her. I'll ask but there's not much hope or chance to be honest. Quote
jazzbo Posted March 7, 2006 Report Posted March 7, 2006 That's what I wrote. He's got long romantic commutes ahead of him. Quote
Shawn Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 Austin to Dallas. I'd drive 3 hours one way for a good slice any day.... Quote
jazzbo Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 Yeah, but if you're not assured a good slice. . . or even a slice. . . ? Quote
JSngry Posted March 8, 2006 Author Report Posted March 8, 2006 Austin to Dallas. I'd drive 3 hours one way for a good slice any day.... Until they get 35 fixed (if they ever get it fixed...), 3 hours would only get you as far as Waxahachie. Not so sure about the sliceability therein... Quote
