Soul Stream
In case you haven't put this recording on in a while, do yourself a favor and do. If you're like me, you've forgetten what a gem it really is. What beauty. If you do take a listen, I'd love to hear your thoughts afterwards. For those who don't have it, I think it's OOP. Mine is a Conn., but it would be worth it to seek it out.
JSngry
Yep. You could, can, should, and no doubt will say the same thing about all of Ike's BN lps. They's all just too beautiful.

JSngry
Can somebody w/Photoshop or some other such make this work, if you get my drift?
DrJ
OK, maybe you CAN get too much Ike! Love all his stuff, but it's the jukebox sessions that get to me the most. I like to play that stuff for people who aren't sure if they like jazz - never fails to elicit a big smile and a "now THAT's good music, is THAT jazz?" exclamation. JSngry
Can somebody w/Photoshop or some other such make this work, if you get my drift? Well, we don't have Photoshop, but the lovely and talented 12 year old Kristina Rae Sangrey has worked wonders with a few paint programs! She says she doesn't like jazz, but that's ok. Supposedly Reid Miles didn't either! [Kristina talking here] I hate it. X_X Gah...I made a smaller version, but he won't upload it. >< So I did. ^^ I don't like the bigger one, really. I don't think i smeared it enough. But gimme a break. I'm 12. -Laughs.- I don't like jazz...but hey; YOU CAN'T GO WRONG WITH IKE! XD No, I listen to it every day. -Points at her dad.- Courtesy of him. Lol, I get used to it. ~Kristina Tony, she's 12.... Bon Chance! king ubu
How about a Quebec Select? This could include all his albums that were not in either of the earlier Mosaics. I only have the old CD version of Blue & Sentimental and the Conns of It Might As Well Be Spring and Soul Samba. Love all this stuff! What else was there? And are there more tracks where Ike guests other than the one on Grant Green's Born to be Blue and Sonny Clark's Leapin' and Lopin'? ubu
David Ayers
IMAWBS is coming back as a JRVG. The note choices in IQ's playing are muscular enough to prevent this from going limp and being merely 'nice'. Worth picking up.
ralphie_boy
Love this session! I've owned the CONN for awhile and I recently treated myself to a nice Mono vinyl copy. That's really the way to hear this baby. For those that don't have HEAVY SOUL, that's almost a companion piece to IMAWBS since the line-up is identical. Clunky
Once I bought this album I really regretted missing out on "Heavy Soul" as "Tt might as..." is a sweet as a nut.
king ubu
Once I bought this album I really regretted missing out on "Heavy Soul" as "Tt might as..." is a sweet as a nut. Same over here - hence: either RVG it or give us a nice little Quebec Select! ubu
David Ayers
Heavy Soul was a 1999 JRVG and is also still available as a a TOCJ. The TOCJ of Bossa Nova Soul Samba is still available, and this is due as a JRVG in September. The JRVG of IMAWBS is due on October. So no-one need be without! Jazzdog
Another vote for an Ike Select! Where can one find those 45 sessions? On E-Bay?
Shrdlu
and a few of them are on the Japanese CD "From Hackensack To Engelwood Cliffs", this having two tracks that were not included in the Mosaic 2 CD set. But this CD would not be easy to find.
king ubu
What are these two tracks? The Ballads comp. also had 4 tracks from the 45 sessions, but all from the Mosaic, no? How about a Complete Blue Note 45" Recordings? Now that would be a nice one! ubu
danasgoodstuff
Or...how about the complete Ike Quebec singles, i.e. both 78 & 45 rpm, since this is a packaging that hasn't been done before and I think it would fit on 3 CDs(?)
