Matthew Posted August 16, 2006 Report Posted August 16, 2006 Well, I called, but used my nice mode, answer: "It's at the wherehouse, they're filling the orders as they arrived. Call back in a couple of days if you don't hear anything." Okay, I'll wait, but next time: full-bore bitchy mode! Quote
Matthew Posted August 16, 2006 Report Posted August 16, 2006 Just got off the phone about my order of 7/19. It was said to be "in the warehouse" (of course...), but the CS rep took the trouble to call me back to confirm that the order would ship either today or tomorrow, and that the Coltrane box would be included. Initial execution sux donkey dix, but the follow through showed every sign of being exemplary. But we'll see if it ships as promised.... Hey, why couldn't I've gotten your guy! Quote
JSngry Posted August 16, 2006 Author Report Posted August 16, 2006 The more relevant question is this - why isn't my guy in charge of hiring, training, and firing (if need be) your guy, and all the others like him? Quote
connoisseur series500 Posted August 16, 2006 Report Posted August 16, 2006 I put my vote in for too much bad beer. -_- (Also, I type in a big rush) Hmmm.....what do YOU consider bad beer? The thought that there is beer bad enough that Conn considers it bad kind of scares me... I don't know how I developed this reputation as a lover of bad beer, when I made the switch to lite beer as a way to cut down on alcohol and calories. Before that I was all for Stellar Artois, Heineken, Bavik, Sapporo, Kirin Ichibahn, Smithwyck's and the like.... Now I'm just plain cutting down altogether. It's part of the process. Hey, I love the good stuff just as others do, but we all have to make concessions. Beer is loaded with calories. Let's see how you look when your my age, Agg.... I've definitely been able to control my weight as a result of such concessions. Quote

mikelz777 Posted August 17, 2006 Report Posted August 17, 2006 (edited) Well, I called, but used my nice mode, answer: "It's at the wherehouse, they're filling the orders as they arrived. Call back in a couple of days if you don't hear anything." Okay, I'll wait, but next time: full-bore bitchy mode! By your smiley it looks as if you are kidding but I thought I'd pass on some advice to everyone anyway. I worked for a bank's telephone customer service department for 12 years. Being bitchy, rude, hard core, antagonistic, etc. is not going to help matters at all. The customer service rep on the other end of the line can often have the power of discretion on whether they are going to help you or not and they are going to be perfectly within their service guidelines whether they choose to help you or not. If you are coming on strong, (and I'm not saying you actually would or that you did) the customer service rep can basically shut down and not assist you in reaching your desired outcome, especially if they have to work a little outside the box. I know it shouldn't be that way but I did it and everyone I ever knew in the customer service dept. did it as well. We can kind of see that from the prior posts. One rep went out of their way to call the warehouse and get the order shipped. The other rep just toed the line and said it was at the warehouse and that you should check back in a few days if you didn't hear anything. I'm pretty certain that both reps would be considered to be operating within their service guidelines. It can be a lot like gambling. It depends on who you get, what they do or don't feel like doing or how they interpret how the caller is coming across. Whatever the case may be, there is a lot of truth in the saying that you can attract a lot more bees with honey than you can with vinnegar. Edited August 17, 2006 by mikelz777 Quote

jeffrey r Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 This thread got kind of quiet all of a sudden. Did everyone here who wanted the Coltrane box finally get one? Not waiting for the Coltrane box, but still waiting for my order from 7/21. My anger from earlier in the thread has now turned to resignation. What can you say about a retailer or e-tailer who has not given you an update or shipped the product within a month after you placed your order? Even granting Concord the benefit of the doubt here that they were overwhelmed by the response to this sale, the fact that they didn't (a) anticipate it, (b) move more employees to the wherehouse, © hire temp workers to fill the orders faster, (d) ..., is pretty pathetic. Oh well. Good luck to all. Quote
Matthew Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 I still haven't heard a thing yet on the Coltrane box -- ordered 7/21. Quote
billyboy Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 I ordered the Evans and Coltrane boxes on 7/18. On 8/8 I received a shipping notification for the Evans and received it 8/14. I assumed the Coltrane box was gone. Yesterday I received shipping notification for the Coltrane box. Quote
tranemonk Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 Ditto... ordered the 2nd one 7/27 and no official confirmation or denial... These guys are making Mark Felt look secretive.... I still haven't heard a thing yet on the Coltrane box -- ordered 7/21. Quote
Hot Ptah Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 I received an email from Concord today stating that my 7-21 order had shipped. This was the first communication from them since 7-21. Quote
JohnT Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 I too ordered the Coltrane box on 7/21 Then I ordered the the Evans box on 7/25 (I had procrastinated on that one)!! I received my two earlier orders of single CDs!! (I put all my orders on seperate credit cards to try and conceal my expenditures from my better half -- she would have killed me to see it on one BIG order!!!! ) Unfortunately, she saw the credit bills for the first two orders... I'm in BIG trouble... ...but I still want my Coltrane and Evans Boxes!!! Quote
Ron S Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 I just spoke to someone at Concord, who said that they're now up to processing the 7/24 orders. Guess that means the my 7/24 order may actually be shipped by the end of August. Quote
tranemonk Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 Yoo-Hoo!!!! Someone at Concord's inept bureaucracy loves Ron!!! mikelz777 Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 (edited) I know that this is an incredible longshot, but does anyone out there who owns or received the Evans box set possibly have a little buyers remorse? Maybe the significant other is giving you some static? Maybe the credit card bill or hit to the bank account were a bit much? Maybe the set is too much or not as much to your liking as you thought? If so, PM me or email me at michaels777@hotmail.com and maybe we can work something out. I'd love to pick one up. Edited August 18, 2006 by mikelz777 Quote
Aggie87 Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 I guess - looking at it from Concord's standpoint - they don't need to hire extra help to process these orders more quickly, they'll simply use whatever minimal staff they have in their warehouse, and continue plodding through these orders until the stock is gone. It's clearly product they want to unload, equivalent of a fire sale, and if anybody cancels their order out of frustration, another will be waiting in line behind them to snatch up whatever is left. They've got the thousand orders guaranteed, whether 2 guys work in the warehouse, or 20. Which makes better sense financially, since that's what seems to be their bottom line here? It's still frustrating from the buyer's perspective, as we're used to CD Universe/Amazon/etc and their processing/shipping standards. But again, it's great prices for the products we're all getting, when they eventually do arrive. Quote

You cannot cancel or alter an order in any way once it is placed online. That was according to the Concord rep I spoke with on the phone a long while back. Quote
Pete B Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 Thanks to the advice offered here, I called Concord yesterday about my order dated 7/20 which included the Evans box. A fellow named Jackson checked it out for me, called back last night to tell me that my order would be processed today but that the Evans might not be available. He called again today to let me know that I would receive one of the last of the Evans boxes and that it would ship today. I didn't ask but it was my impression that the orders were not processed first in first out. He seemed a bit surprised that my order was as old as it was. OTOH my first order for the Coltrane box shipped only a few days after it was placed, but that was early in the game. Quote
David McFarlane Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 Good advice Paul... OK, latest timeline update for all the other "junkies". Just received the shipping notice for my rather large order (placed 7/19/06) including both the Coltrane and Evans boxes. The only CD that didn't ship was the Boss Tenor K2. All in all . Received a large FedEx box today containing everything noted in the shipping notification. I have a lot of listening ahead Quote
