Yes. By all means you should buy it. Right away. I mean, it’s out-of-print and import only. Not yet? Well, it will be. Then you’ll have to buy it on eBay. I saw one the other day at the Jazz Record Center for $175, and there were a couple of guys fighting over it. Not surprising, it’s some of the artist’s best work; I can say that, because I’ve got it all. Definitely great stuff. It’s on my desert island list and Lon thinks its great too. I heard he hocked his amp – you know that funny low-powered thing – to get his copy. He sold his car to get a duplicate – back-up, just in case. Wise man. These aren’t easy to come by. And there’s some dispute with the artist’s estate so they can’t reissue it. Even the guys in Andorra. And if they did, it’d have that new FungusShield copy protection… you know, the one that transmits all your porn surfing history and pharma orders directly to the Oval Office?

You still there? D*mn, you oughta be at the record store by now. It’s probably gone. Picked up by the cat who’s going to post it to eBay because he doesn’t care anything about music, but knows it’s going to bring the big money.

Your spouse? Heck, your spouse knows how much you love music. Like you’re going to break up over one recording. Who wears the pants around there anyway?

The true test is when you have 13 of an artist's recordings and miss that one stinker. You know it's a piece of shit, but you need it to "be complete". One is available on eBay and the bidding is at $106.53 and you are about to pull the trigger.

No Duke Pearson record is worth more than $15.

In my youth, I was that guy. Fortunately, I gave it up before eBay came along.

Edited to add:

The other killer is going out nd buting YET ANOTHER copy of a recording to have the alternate takes, even when you know the alternates won't be materially different from the master, give or take a breakdown.

But you forgot "Mosaics always appreciate in value, so if you don't like it you can sell it easily."

Why not? Because you say so?

It seems Mr Hans has blocked PMs or PMs from me. I want to let him know I picked "Duke Pearson" out of the air. I could have said Charlie Parker, Albert Ayler, Duke Ellington, Roscoe Mitchell or Don Ewell. It was an example.

Those Duke Pearson fans are not to be messed with. I hope Chewy doesn't see this thread.
