What the heck is this???

Well, there's an extended listing of the same stuff, plus ...an intersting photo and a mention Chris Albertson [our Chris?!] . This is really bizarre...

Sorry, but I did say it was bizarre. Perhaps I should've been more descriptive, like "Achtung - nekkid crack whore photo ahead!"

On the bright side - she's probably not married. :tup

Guilty as charged. The late Bernie Brightman put out a series of "concept" (conception?) albums on his Stash label. I helped him pick some of the material and wrote some of the notes. The track bearing my name is a very brief excerpt from hours of interviews I had with Ruby Smith (Bessie's niece by marriage) in 1971. As for the "lady" in the e-bay photo, she looks like a decapitated drag queen to me. Mind you, I have never seen one thus modified, but this--when I was a child with a vivid mind--is how I imagined they looked,.

AC/DC Blues Gay Jazz Reissues

I have a record called "Copulatin' Blues", I wonder if this is part of a series...

Anybody know any of these cuts?

I remember when this one came out (around 1975?) and it raised quite a bit of furore in Jazz Journal International in the new album review section - was torched by the reviewer. A banjo album from around the same time got similar treatment. :D

I'll see if I can dig out the review.

The guy who put up the auction linked images from a site whose webmaster wasn't pleased about that and took revenge.

This explains the naked picture and the rather monotonous sounding mp3 files.

I had an album from about the same time, with cover artwork that was somewhat similar, entitled "Pot Spoon Pipe and Jug"--a compilation of early songs about drug use. Was that one part of the same series, Chris?

Funny little label...

Yes, it was rather a funny little label, but Bernie Brightman put out a lot of releases before the tax people shut him down. I believe he was collecting but not submitting sales tax--something like that.

He is no longer with us, but he was an interesting man. I understand that he was hell to work for, but I only saw the pleasant side, as on the many occasions when he (sometimes with his wife, Natasha) dropped by my apartment with delicious lunch-type things from Zabar's (the "gourmet epicurian emporium" onthee upper West Side :)).

Bernie was a nice guy but dishonest, and I know one particular guy who worked for him who told me about him changing sales numbers to stiff musicians out of royalties - there was lotsa stuff like that -

in terms of copulating blues, if you want to hear the best of this, sound and song-wise, pick up the Sony Legacy Lucille Bogan, which has the first clear version of Shave Em Dry, along with another sex song called Til The Cows Come Home - it's a long and complicated story, but I turned up these two pressings in a private collection, transferred them and restored them, and passed them on to Larry Cohn - they should be heard, as they are absolutely amazing -
