Extra tracks on Chick Corea's "Now He Sings..."

I just bought on eBay a TOCJ copy of this Corea recording for a very reasonable price. Unfortunately, contrary to the info on the eBay item page, this version has only the original 5 tracks. I'm wondering whether the 8 extra tracks included in the recent American version are really worth my spending more money to acquire. Thanks in advance for any opinions.

What he said. NHS, NHS is one of Chick's greatest recordings. The extra stuff - very worthwhile.

Unfortunately, none of the Japanese "Blue Note Works" TOCJs have extra tracks.

Gotta say my interest in this session revolves around Chick's internal battle between wanting to be a "more sophisticated Bill Evans" or a "cutting edge jazz musician". This "battle" continued for a couple of years until he found Return to Forever and his holy land. Stopped paying any serious attention after that.

The extra tracks aren't quite as devastating as the basic album--they mainly lean toward the progressive Evans, sorta Hancockish vein--but they're well worth having and miles ahead of a lot of stuff from the era (not to mention the bulk of Corea's discography). There is a brilliant degree of tension to these recordings that's hard to ignore.
