JohnBlutarski Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 (edited) while shopping for the new RvG's, I bought Eric Dolphy's "Out To Lunch" (also RvG), and while listening to it, I noticed the original liner notes aren't complete. Does it sound familiair? Did it happen with all of them? Does it happen a lot with Blue Note (RvG) reissues? Maybe somebody can enlighten me? JB Edited March 21, 2007 by JohnBlutarski Quote
Kyo Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 Which reminds me of something more recent - are the liner notes in the US edition of Charles Earland's Black Talk RVG complete? All the copies I've seen on sale in Germany cut the notes off in mid-sentence. Quote
Late Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 I've put my ear up to liner notes before, and I still don't hear anything. Incomplete, yes. Quote

Chuck Nessa Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 Notes on my Dolphy are fine. Never heard of that problem. Quote
Shrdlu Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 I'm with Chuck on that one - LP and CD reissue. The notes for the CD are the same as for the LP. Dig that bass clarinet/ bass unison at the end of the second track! Quote
clifford_thornton Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 "Something Sweet, Something Tender" - Dolphy and Richard Davis sure had something special going on. Quote

Claude Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 (edited) On my european RVG pressing as well, the reproduction of the original liner notes is incomplete. It ends in the description of the title track, with the sentense "Even though the rhythm section breaks the time up, there is a basic pulse coming from" . So the description of the last track and a conclusion is missing. Edited March 22, 2007 by Claude Quote
Kyo Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 Yeah, I forgot to mention that my European copy of Out To Lunch has the same problem. Quote

We all thought you meant the original (LP) notes. Those are the only ones that I need. But I do have the RVG CD, and I don't recall any missing notes. Quote

Well, I do mean the original (LP) Notes, the new notes next to it are complete. But accordinging to the copmment here, it's only in the european version. I took it back to the store, and ordered me an US version through internet. JB Edited March 28, 2007 by JohnBlutarski Quote
