Kyo
What's coming up next? Maybe Bluerein or someone else can shed some light on this.
David Ayers
I got this list a few days ago - I don't know why I didn't post it straight away. BN Internal 4/1/2007. RVG schedule. Internal use only. Cat. numbers unconfirmed. October 2007 Frank Foster, The House That Love Built (unreleased January 1969 date) Who cares? Sam Rivers, Dimensions and Extensions Ornette Coleman, New York Calling 2CD (New York is Now! and Love Call with extra tracks) Pete La Roca, Basra (finally) Leo Parker, Rollin with Leo Wayne Shorter, Odyssey of Iska November 2007 Baby Face Willette, Face to Face Jackie McLean, Bluesnik (about time) Jutta Hipp with Zoot Sims (ta da!) Cliff Jordan (BLP 1565) Dodo Greene, My Hour of Need Stanley Turrentine, Up At Minton's (one CD edition - edited down to make it less tedious) I am a bad man. But hey, they should put me in charge at Blue Note, right?
Kevin Bresnahan
Jeez, quoting April 1st posts now qualifies for "April Fools"? I almost choked on my coffee on that "Up At Minton's" line.
David Ayers
Don't hate me! I'm so underwhelmed by the RVG reissue lists when they DO appear that I thought I'd write one of my own. I bet my list is better than the real one (when we get to see it)!
J Larsen
How about a 2CD of the Dexter Gordon Keystone Sessions? I haven't actually heard these, so I'm open to being convinced that they are not worth of reissue. Also, are there still any good Ike Quebec sessions waiting to be reissued? They're great, but there's three discs of material and it's all available as a Mosaic Select set already.

Late
Late 2007 batch of RVG reissues Yes, that's right. This batch has been selected and produced by myself. Unfortunately, I didn't consult David Ayers beforehand. A splendid list, his, though he neglected to mention the previously unissued track on the Ornette session. It's a 3:17 "outtake" of studio chatter. Ornette and Dewey are discussing their favorite roast for coffee while waiting for Elvin to set his kit up. With the RVG treatment, Ornette's consonants come through, perhaps for the first time, with amazing clarity.
WD45
Damn, and I was all excited about that list for a minute.

BruceH
Damn, and I was all excited about that list for a minute. You and me both. Same here. Shouldn't there be a statute of limitations on April Fool's jokes? Like, only on April 1st for fuck's sake.

Late
Well, Ornette is partial to French Roast, while Dewey usually drinks Italian Roast. Ornette says something about Italian Roast being too thin, and then (off-mike but still audible) Dewey mumbles "Like your reeds?"

jmjk
Damn, and I was all excited about that list for a minute. You and me both. I was PISSED! Two months back I spent $27.99 on the TOCJ BN Works edition of Leo Parker's Rollin' with Leo.
Kyo
I just came across a session that I'd like to see reissued as an RVG with the additional track (that's not on the TOCJ disc): Thad Jones Sextet Thad Jones (tp) Benny Powell (tb) Gigi Gryce (as) Tommy Flanagan (p) George Duvivier (b) Elvin Jones (d) Rudy Van Gelder Studio, Hackensack, NJ, February 2, 1957 tk.5 Slipped Around Blue Note BLP 1546 tk.6 Going Off Stage Mosaic MQ5-172 tk.9 Let's Blue Note BLP 1546 tk.10 Ill Wind - tk.14 Thadrack - * The Magnificent Thad Jones, Vol. 3 (Blue Note BLP 1546) * The Complete Blue Note/United Artists/Roulette Recordings Of Thad Jones (Mosaic MQ5-172, MD3-172) I really like Detroit - New York Junction and this is the last Thad Jones BN that hasn't come out in the US and Europe yet. Would be great to see an RVG of this as that bonus track has only been issued as part of the Mosaic set.

David Ayers
Maybe they ARE going to use my list! Maybe you guys should pay me five bucks for every one I got right!!
Big Al
I have nothing to contribute to this thread other than that I love David's signature line. All that's missing is a picture of the Tasmanian Devil!
