cduniverse has a sale on some Steeplechase releases... a pretty good price, considering these usually list for over 18 bucks. Most appear to be reissues?

I never understood why they dared to charge their usual high prices for their CDs.

So many mistakes all over the few Steeplechase releases I own...

Andrew Hill - Invitation

With Chris White on bass and drummer Art Lewis on... well, also bass - at least according to the tray card.

Andrew Hill - Divine Revelation

It's not quite clear which of the two takes of July 10th is the master and which is just a bonus

track (I can guess that the last track is probably a bonus, but it doesn't say so anywhere).

And my favorite mistake has to be ANDREW HILL QUINTET all over the ugly cover when

there's only four people playing on the album (and it says "quartet" everywhere else).

I've never heard any of these.....any essentials?

The Duke Jordan, Horace Parlan and Kenny Drew are all very nice, though I wouldn't necessarily call them "essential".

The Dexter Gordon is a relatively recently dug up live recording with Kenny Drew and if you are a fan of Dex, it is essential.

I picked up the Brew Moore because I enjoy Kenny Drew and it is exceptionally good. Not a lot of recordings of his available, so its nice to see this again.

The Brew Moore is one of hell of a record. Highly recommended!

So are the Walt Dickerson...

I'm partial to the Lee Konitz at Juan (with Martial Solal) and the Chet Baker 'Someday My Prince Will Come', one of his best!
