Big Al Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 We're making our annual trek to Hastings in August, and now that I've got a turntable.... well, you know the drill. Any help will be appreciated! Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 'Twill be great to have you in the area but you won't find vinyl. Maybe Kalamazoo. What are your dates? Maybe some of us can hook up. Quote
Joe G Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 East Lansing has Flat Black & Circular. :rsmile: Yes, post your dates, man! Quote
Uncle Skid Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 Dates, man, post yer dates!! Vertigo Music Corner Record Shop Quote
Big Al Posted July 26, 2007 Author Report Posted July 26, 2007 Sunday August 4 thru the following Friday at least. Maybe longer, depending on flights. Yes, let's hook up somewhere! I promise not to knock out the power like I did last time. Quote
Big Al Posted July 26, 2007 Author Report Posted July 26, 2007 Looking at the suggestions, it looks like an hour's trip either way. That Corner Music Shop looks like a good place, closest to a couple of you anyway. Man, if I thought we could get up there on the 3rd, I could get over to the Old Town Jazz Festival and finally see the guys play. Quote
Big Al Posted August 4, 2007 Author Report Posted August 4, 2007 (edited) Alright gents, this is my last post before heading your way! I just got off the phone with Skid about this coming week, and it looks like we'll be hooking up on Tuesday night. The sketchy plan right now is I'm gonna get into Grand Rapids early evening (3 or 4 pm). From there, anyone who wants to meet me at Corner Record Store, that's where I'm heading first. From there, we'll go to Vertigo, let Skid take his drum lesson, and head out for food & drinks. Skid's got my cel number, so I'll let him do the coordinating and he can pass along any info to me. Skid also has my permission to give out my cel number to any of the Michigan Organissimites who will hopefully be joining us. I am SO looking forward to seeing you guys; I just wish Root Doctor was playing closer to GR! Edited August 4, 2007 by Big Al Quote
randissimo Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 It was nice getting together with Joe, Mark, Chuck, and Big Al for a beer & a bite.. Enjoyed it! Great seeing you again Al. Quote
sidewinder Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 So - the big question. Any nice vinyl purchased? Quote
Big Al Posted August 11, 2007 Author Report Posted August 11, 2007 So - the big question. Any nice vinyl purchased? Almost! I'm sitting at a public computer in a Detroit hotel, we're leaving tomorrow morning for Texas. Had a great time up here, and getting together with Skid, Chuck, Joe, & Randy was an absolute blast! Looking forward to next year even as I type! No, I didn't get much time to look around Corner Record Shop, but I can tell you that they've got a pretty decent selection and the prices are great. So much so that I'm seriously thinking about calling the guy up and having him ship the Tony Bennett record I was looking at. I blew all my money at Vertigo, mostly on Elvis Costello Rhino reissues (can't believe I forgot to get Get Happy!!!, but oh well) as well as Dizzy's Birks Works. Again, a decent selection and great prices. I don't know anyplace in Texas where I'd be able to find Sonic Youth's Daydream Nation DE for $24! But I had to draw the line somewhere, right? RIGHT???? Chuck Nessa Posted August 11, 2007 Report Posted August 11, 2007 Have a safe return Al. Nice seeing you again. Quote
Joe G Posted August 11, 2007 Report Posted August 11, 2007 What Chuck said. A good time was had by all! Quote

Big Al Posted August 12, 2007 Author Report Posted August 12, 2007 Hey, why no Ann Arbor stop?? It's on the way between Grand Rapids and Detroit! Sorry, man! Wish I'd had more time. We drove thru Ann Arbor twice: once on the way to Hastings, once on the way back! Maybe next year, I hope! Quote
