Lou Donaldson POSSUM HEAD (Argo)

and

Buddy Montgomerry THIS RATHER THAN THAT (Impulse!)

Saw 'em at Half-Price Books during lunch, they're holding 'em for me until after work (don't want them to sit in a hot car all day and warp) along with a few other LPs. I can't find any info on either of these. Anyone have these? Opinions?

is that the Buddy Montgomery album with Mel Rhyne on organ?

We'll find out tomorrow. :) But I think you're correct.

It is - if you don't like it, pass it one to me, it's the only Melvin Rhyne missing in my collection. I once had to pass it on because they wanted more than 100 for it in a Munich 2nd hand shop!

If ya like it, make me a needle drop, please ....

Never heard of the Buddy Montgomery before but it sounds good to me (I'm always down for longer, slower numbers - assuming they're steeped in the blues) and Possum Head is a no-brainer, particularly at that price. Might not be the best of the Argo/Cadets but each of them had their pleasures and the best of them stand up well with the BNs of the same era.
