mesfen
has this title been redone since its last offering in 1996? I like the recent treatments that the other Lighthouse shows have had done to them. Any news on the '69 show being released?
Bluerein
What should be done differently then? THe 69 show is in the pipeline (I guess we'll see it this year at some stage).
alocispepraluger102
those are some of the most underrated albums of all time.
The Magnificent Goldberg
I agree - they're wonderful! Actually better than the studio recordings, I think. MG
Kyo
I just ordered this a few days ago, it'll be my first Jazz Crusaders album. Can't wait to hear it.
DMP
Probably "underrated' by critics at the time, but pretty good sellers, so jazz fans were on to them. Hard to believe, but almost all their PJ albums - studio and live - are available once again! (And most of ther "live" CD's have extra material.) alocispepraluger102
the crusaders, john handy, pharoah, and the don ellis big band all showed so much early promise, but didnt continue to grow. such disappointments !
Cali
Hard to believe, but almost all their PJ albums - studio and live - are available once again! (And most of ther "live" CD's have extra material.)Yeah, but why hasn't PJ released LOOKIN' AHEAD, their second album and to my ears one of their absolute best? I've been confused by PJ's choice of re-issues for a very long time!

Cali: That is in included on the Mosaic Box Set, along with Freedom Sound, Tough Talk, Heat Wave, Stretchin' Out, The Thing, Uh Huh, Powerhouse, Give Peace a Chance, and bonus material. So all that is left for single releases from this period (at least until the set sells out) are the live recordings.
Kyo
Got the Lighthouse '66 disc yesterday and listened to it at least three times in a row. Great stuff!

Still it would be nice to buy my favorite recording by them without springing for the whole box.
DMP
The Mosaic is a big investment, but it's all there - and almost all of it (there was an issue of "Freedom Sound' earlier, and "Uh Huh" was on that Applause label) has never been out on CD. And almost all of the "live" stuff is in print. What's missing is a couple of cuts from that big band album, and the Les McCann session. By the way, I do think they evolved some in their PJ years - there was a change of direction when Buster Williams joined the band.

Bluerein
Uh Huh was also released in Japan on a TOCP CD (popular marketed). We'll see the McCan as well in the future (if BN/EMI still excists).
DMP
Now that I think about it, "Powerhouse" might have also been out on the Applause label. Terrible sound, though.

Yes, I think I've seen copies of that one on 'Applause'.
