Teasing the Korean Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 Does anyone know if this early BN 10" LP was ever reissued on 12" LP or CD? Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 CDP 7 84436 2 is the number on my cd. Coupled with the '47 Messengers. Quote
Teasing the Korean Posted November 19, 2008 Author Report Posted November 19, 2008 Thanks Chuck! Quote
Big Beat Steve Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 That music must have clocked a bit of mileage on reissue vinyl too. 6 of the 8 tracks are on the "The Beginning and End of Bop" Blue Note LP B-6503 released as early as 1969 (coupled with George Wallington tracks). And wasn't it in the Japanese King Records "BN 10 Inch LP Collection" 12in facsimile reissue series of the 80s too? Quote
Teasing the Korean Posted November 20, 2008 Author Report Posted November 20, 2008 How many of the tracks have Chano Pozo? Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 How many of the tracks have Chano Pozo? He plays on 4. Quote
Teasing the Korean Posted November 20, 2008 Author Report Posted November 20, 2008 Thanks. Not to suggest that the rest aren't worthwhile, of course. Quote
andybleaden Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 I got it when it came out on CD as a double with the Blakey as mentioned. It was really good at the time as I was a staunce Messenger freak and had to have this early messengers incarnation. I have not listened to it much recently...maybe I need to. I always remembered Tin tin deo..that was on there if my memory serves me right...it usually don't Quote
Swinging Swede Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 Those tracks were also on the Classics CD 1948-1949. Quote

My copy is on this - a blue/white Liberty issue. Somehow it appeared (new) in a record store sale in Liverpool in 1979 as a cutout ! Quote

That would have been just about when EMI bought United Music and Records Group. I think I've got a few BN cutouts from that period. Warehouse emptying of stuff the previous firm was no longer entitled to sell. MG Quote
Big Beat Steve Posted November 21, 2008 Report Posted November 21, 2008 Ha, might well be mine comes from the same source. It has a cutout at the upper spine edge and I bought it secondhand at Mole Jazz in the early 90s. Quote
sidewinder Posted November 21, 2008 Report Posted November 21, 2008 (edited) Ha, might well be mine comes from the same source. It has a cutout at the upper spine edge and I bought it secondhand at Mole Jazz in the early 90s. I think my cutout is on the upper far edge but will have to check. I think I picked up a copy of Lee Morgan's 'Memorial Album' on blue label as a hole-punch deletion that day too. Amazing how many UK-sourced LPs from the 1970s gravitated to Mole Jazz in the end.
