Rooster_Ties Posted April 8, 2009 Report Posted April 8, 2009 (edited) I'll start... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8YRuIMqVcA4 Edit: Was that extreme microtonality?? -- or simply the greatest number of modulations in a single tune in recent memory?? Edited April 8, 2009 by Rooster_Ties Quote
T.D. Posted 18 hours ago Report Posted 18 hours ago I have that quarter-tone piano disc. I recommend this set (many samples at New World Bandcamp page): Thinking about this, likely to pick it up sometime (samples at Another Timbre bandcamp page): Quote

Some of the most, if not the most, musical microtonal music I've ever heard. Truly beautiful. The Kepler Quartet dedicated so much time and energy to Johnston's writing. It paid off. Reference recordings. Quote

I don't know if it's still available (haven't checked), but I'd say it's an excellent entry point into microtonal music. Beautiful, precise playing, amazing sound, and most importantly...very musical. If a person only had "one" album/CD of microtonal music, they'd be well-served with this title. I'm sure there are other more "important" microtonal recordings, but this one is really really good. Quote
