ghost of miles Posted July 5, 2010 Author Report Posted July 5, 2010 Listening to INTRODUCING KENNY COX, going back over notes I jotted down while reading Harvey Cohen's DUKE ELLINGTON'S AMERICA, and very much enjoying the prospect of sleeping in tomorrow morning. Honestly, how can you lose luggage on a flight that starts in Seattle, have a THREE HOUR LAYOVER IN PORTLAND, and it not be on your plane to Ontario, CA??? It ees all a part of life's rich pageant... Ha ha... a friend of mine who used to live here in Bloomington worked in a video store and rented that film to R.E.M. while they were here in town recording the album that would subsequently bear that title. Matthew Posted August 16, 2010 Report Posted August 16, 2010 Early morning flights stink! Honestly, does anyone like to fly anymore? It's such a pain in the rear end now, believe me, there are plenty of times when I wish I could drop the emergency slide in a plane, and just leave. Quote
ghost of miles Posted August 24, 2010 Author Report Posted August 24, 2010 Still up, working on a couple of Night Lights shows. At least it's cool tonight and we have the windows open. Quote
jeffcrom Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 Not sleepy - can't get music and thoughts of tomorrow's election out of my head. The 1926-42 gospel collection I'm listening to isn't helping - it's stirring me up instead of settling me down. Quote
BeBop Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 I'm up every morning at 2:00AM, give or take 30 minutes*. It's my reading and working (overtime) time. I've made a promise to myself to avoid doing anything online until 7:30AM or so. If I can do it, I'll include some music/listening. When I was principally a musician, 3:00AM was my go-to-bed time. Well, I'm adaptable... * Yes, even when I'm making 12-time zone changes. Quote
ghost of miles Posted November 28, 2010 Author Report Posted November 28, 2010 Keeping holiday-weekend late hours, up working on the website page for this week's Night Lights Billy Strayhorn program. Still not sleepy... maybe I should watch a movie. Quote
papsrus Posted November 28, 2010 Report Posted November 28, 2010 Just got home from work. Wired. Louis Cottrell on the music box. It'll be a while. Quote
Matthew Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 Hate having to readjust my body clock after I travel. I was 11 hours ahead of PST for the past three weeks, so it feel like 1pm to me now. Quote
Matthew Posted March 22, 2011 Report Posted March 22, 2011 I'm starting to feel like a vampire now... Quote
ghost of miles Posted May 19, 2011 Author Report Posted May 19, 2011 On vacation right now, which tends to make me more of a night owl than ever, but working on a couple of blog posts for the Night Lights site, and getting ready to pop in disc 2 of the Mingus 1962 Birdland broadcasts. Quote
ghost of miles Posted June 29, 2013 Author Report Posted June 29, 2013 Pondering an existential quandary. Quote
The Magnificent Goldberg Posted June 29, 2013 Report Posted June 29, 2013 I've forgotten what this thread's about and can't be asked to look at post #1 MG Quote
ghost of miles Posted September 14, 2013 Author Report Posted September 14, 2013 Listening to Red Rodney's Fiery (1957 sides with Ira Sullivan, Tommy Flanagan, Oscar Pettiford, and either Philly Joe Jones or Elvin Jones... not too shabby) and trying to reorganize my desk. My laptop is surrounded by canyon walls of CDs. Quote
gmonahan Posted September 14, 2013 Report Posted September 14, 2013 Listening to Red Rodney's Fiery (1957 sides with Ira Sullivan, Tommy Flanagan, Oscar Pettiford, and either Philly Joe Jones or Elvin Jones... not too shabby) and trying to reorganize my desk. My laptop is surrounded by canyon walls of CDs. Oh, I can so id with canyon walls of cds. Determined to dig my way down in the next two weeks. Probably hopeless, but some good listening will be a nice byproduct! gregmo Quote
