Listening to INTRODUCING KENNY COX, going back over notes I jotted down while reading Harvey Cohen's DUKE ELLINGTON'S AMERICA, and very much enjoying the prospect of sleeping in tomorrow morning.

Honestly, how can you lose luggage on a flight that starts in Seattle, have a THREE HOUR LAYOVER IN PORTLAND, and it not be on your plane to Ontario, CA???

It ees all a part of life's rich pageant...

Ha ha... a friend of mine who used to live here in Bloomington worked in a video store and rented that film to R.E.M. while they were here in town recording the album that would subsequently bear that title.

Early morning flights stink! Honestly, does anyone like to fly anymore? It's such a pain in the rear end now, believe me, there are plenty of times when I wish I could drop the emergency slide in a plane, and just leave. :tdown

Not sleepy - can't get music and thoughts of tomorrow's election out of my head. The 1926-42 gospel collection I'm listening to isn't helping - it's stirring me up instead of settling me down.

I'm up every morning at 2:00AM, give or take 30 minutes*. It's my reading and working (overtime) time. I've made a promise to myself to avoid doing anything online until 7:30AM or so. If I can do it, I'll include some music/listening.

When I was principally a musician, 3:00AM was my go-to-bed time. Well, I'm adaptable...

* Yes, even when I'm making 12-time zone changes.

On vacation right now, which tends to make me more of a night owl than ever, but working on a couple of blog posts for the Night Lights site, and getting ready to pop in disc 2 of the Mingus 1962 Birdland broadcasts.

Listening to Red Rodney's Fiery (1957 sides with Ira Sullivan, Tommy Flanagan, Oscar Pettiford, and either Philly Joe Jones or Elvin Jones... not too shabby) and trying to reorganize my desk. My laptop is surrounded by canyon walls of CDs.

Oh, I can so id with canyon walls of cds. Determined to dig my way down in the next two weeks. Probably hopeless, but some good listening will be a nice byproduct!
