jazztrain Posted April 14, 2010 Report Posted April 14, 2010 (edited) Not sure where to put this, but Concord has apparently purchased Rounder Records: Rounder Purchase Press Release Edited April 14, 2010 by jazztrain Quote
felser Posted April 14, 2010 Report Posted April 14, 2010 Not sure where to put this, but Concord has apparently purchased Rounder Records: Rounder Purchase Press Release Cool, by next Valentine's day, we can look forward to "Bela Fleck Plays For Lovers", etc. Quote
paul secor Posted April 14, 2010 Report Posted April 14, 2010 It's been years since Rounder has issued any worthwhile music, so the label will be a good fit with Concord. Quote
randyhersom Posted April 14, 2010 Report Posted April 14, 2010 Ah, the complete Concord recordings of Sun Ra!!! Quote
WorldB3 Posted April 14, 2010 Report Posted April 14, 2010 Might make it easier to get some old Tony Rice and Sam Bush titles now, and they will hit emusic also. Quote
Bill Nelson Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 The semi-trailers are already moving the Rounder masters to Iron Mountain -- never to be seen again. We can look forward to projects titled 'The Best of Alt-Everything' and 'Bluegrass On the Beach'. (Both easily obtained at Starbucks.) Quote
AndrewHill Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 Maybe we'll see a "Rounder Profiles" series or perhaps Rounder RVG's or "The Irwin, Nowlin & Leighton Collection" Quote
seeline Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 (edited) Might make it easier to get some old Tony Rice and Sam Bush titles now, and they will hit emusic also. There's some interesting stuff from their back catalog on emusic.com now... has been there for a month or two, actually. (I just checked - 59 pages' worth of music, in all.) Ken Dryden Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 Fortunately, I've already acquired most of the Rounder albums that I desired. I'm not hopeful about Concord reissuing out of print things or keeping valuable Rounder releases in print. Sorry folks, but digital downloads are not the equivalent of physical CDs, in my view. Ever try to get an artist to autograph an MP3 file or a burned CDR from one? Quote

Chuck Nessa Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 This complicates a verbal deal for the Ira Sullivan session I produced. Maybe I can get it back. Quote
