felser Posted April 30, 2013 Report Posted April 30, 2013 We're all crazy here, but musically and soundwise, the Columbia totally obsoletes the Mosaic. Packaging and sentimental value are a different matter. BTW, is everyone hip to the 1977 Muse/32jazz album Louis Hayes - The Real Thing? That's a Woody Shaw album in all but name (he and Hayes co-led that group, with Rene McLean, Ronnie Mathews, and Stafford James, the same core group as the Berliner Jazztage concert and even has Slide Hampton guesting), and a gem. Could have easily been fit onto the Mosaic, but wasn't. A shame. Quote

To me, the album doesn't quite live up. But I agree it ought to have been in the Mosaic. Quote

I was torn because of the extra live tracks and have been itching to get it. I guess you have put me over the edge and I'll have to get it when I can. Quote

BeBop Posted May 16, 2013 Report Posted May 16, 2013 (edited) Apparently (I haven't gone through the list) 361 box sets on sale at ImportCDs. Multiple genres. Quick ook shows lots of Bird and Trane. Bill Evans. No much out of the mainstream. Complete Wes on Riverside for $125. Not sure if that's good price, but nice set. Edited May 16, 2013 by BeBop Quote
GA Russell Posted May 16, 2013 Author Report Posted May 16, 2013 Two days ago I noticed that Amazon had raised the shipping fee for its Marketplace Sellers to $3.99 for DVD box sets, and yesterday I noticed that that is also true for CD box sets. Quote

Still $2.99 at half.com, so I've started also looking there, though generally find amazon to be the better deal, even with the extra shipping cost. But it is definitely slowing me down some on purchases of single titles, especially low-end ones. Quote
colinmce Posted May 18, 2013 Report Posted May 18, 2013 That's a shame, especially since you can ship a single CD for less than $2. Quote
Quincy Posted May 18, 2013 Report Posted May 18, 2013 I discovered the shipping increase because all of the sudden I had a bunch of prices on used discs met via the price setting site camelcamelcamel. So it appears as if some sellers are making adjustments so perhaps as more adjust it won't be a full $1 increase for the consumer as some sellers will decide to eat part of it. That said I now have to readjust the prices set for marketplace vendors. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted May 18, 2013 Report Posted May 18, 2013 I was late to notice the increases because I am a "prime" member. Quote
