Jazzmoose Posted December 22, 2010 Report Posted December 22, 2010 If you want to feel old, remember that this is old news. People were talking about the decline of email years ago. Quote
Daniel A Posted December 22, 2010 Report Posted December 22, 2010 This has been in the coming for some time. But the fax isn't dead; at least once a week people are asking me to fax various documents to them. This is mostly because fax is considered more safe than e-mail (a common view in the bank world), but there's still a minority who ask for fax - because they are not yet into e-mail! The law business is largely very conservative. Quote
Dan Gould Posted December 22, 2010 Report Posted December 22, 2010 If you want to feel old, remember that this is old news. People were talking about the decline of email years ago. Perhaps but did they have statistics like the ones quoted, which are just over the past year or two? Seems to me the decline was anticipated, but is far more quantifiable, now. The end kills me: Adam Horowitz, 23, who works as a technology consultant for a major accounting firm in New York, spends all day on e-mail at his office. When he leaves it behind, he picks up his phone and communicates with friends almost entirely via texts. Yet he sometimes feels caught between the two, as when he texts with his younger brothers, ages 12 and 19, who tend to send even shorter, faster messages. “When they text me, it comes across in broken English. I have no idea what they’re saying,” said Mr. Horowitz. “I may not text in full sentences, but at least there’s punctuation to get my point across.” “I guess I’m old school.” First you had the internet destroy any respect for proper attribution of sources, or what consitutes plagiarism and why it might be wrong. Now you have the ultimate destruction of writing skills. I fear for the future, and yes, get the fuck off my lawn. Quote

Apparently the Wikipedia authorities on e-mail that everybody should be crediting are 216.251.145.194, This lousy t-shirt, 89.243.20.128, Ute in DC, 212.35.69.44, Ohnoitsjamie, et al.! Quote
