Rooster_Ties Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 (edited) First and foremost, RIP Ms. Vickers. ====== HERE's a much bigger image similar to the one you posted Chewy(cropped slightly) -- but one can almost pick out all the titles. The ones that I can read are (Left to right), Chet Baker, Bud Shank, Chico Hamilton, "Jazz Loves Paris". Can't make out the rest. What's the one that says "Zen" in faux Chinese characters? And of course, the real question is, would Chewy have forgiven her for the glass on the LP cover by her knee? Edited May 3, 2011 by Rooster_Ties Quote
brownie Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 What a sad way to finish one's life... I'll forgive her for not taking care of her albums. These show quite an interesting taste. The zen album is this one: Quote

Dave James Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 Let's not get too carried away imagining Ms. VIckers firing up the hi-fi for a late-night cool jazz listening session. It's about a 99.99% lock that this photograph, like so many others, was just ginned up by Hef and his crew to reflect the lifestyle they were trying to convey to Playboy aficionados. Chances are she wouldn't have known Fred Katz from the neighbor cats. That being said, it's a sad and depressing ending to what, at one point, must've seemed like an absolutely idyllic life. Quote

Actually, while there's no doubt that the hi-fi and jazz were integral to the Playboy Philosophy in those days, Vickers may well have been hip. According to her Wiki bio, she was the daughter of a jazz musician and late in life apparently recorded an album as a jazz singer in tribute to her parents: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yvette_Vickers Edited May 3, 2011 by Mark Stryker Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 It also says she was married to Don Prell in the mid '50s. Quote
papsrus Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 Just to make an entirely sexist observation having nothing to do with this woman's demise, playmates sure seemed a lot more appealing back in the day, compared to the bleach blond barbie doll look-a-likes that Heff seems to surround himself with these days. Not that I'm an expert or anything, but ... Quote
