bichos Posted May 8, 2011 Report Posted May 8, 2011 that´s what i´ve always said: "The most enduring formats? Not CDs or MP3 digital files. "Vinyl discs properly stored will last hundreds of years," "Shellac too." keep boppin´ marcel Quote
bertrand Posted May 9, 2011 Report Posted May 9, 2011 (edited) access is restricted to the library's reading rooms in Washington and Culpeper Wasn't aware that their holdings were accessible in Culpeper. In fact, I was lead to believe it was the opposite. To listen in D.C., you make a request and a digital version is prepared in about a week for you to listen to on their PCs. The digital copies, once they are made, are accessible for good anytime you want. It's a shame I don't get to spend as much time there as I would like, considering how close I am. Bertrand. Neal Pomea Posted May 11, 2011 Report Posted May 11, 2011 Good luck. The search and browse functions were incredibly slow yesterday, and I never could actually hear any music because my version of Flash is not the latest. Still, it's a great concept. Hope they work out the kinks or I get up to speed on it. Quote
papsrus Posted May 11, 2011 Report Posted May 11, 2011 Yeah, I tried to add something to my playlist thingy and it didn't take. Will keep messing around with it. Quote
Neal Pomea Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 I can hear songs from home, where my Flash is more up to date than at work (sic). Here's one with Luckey Roberts playing piano: Bootleggers Ball, 1923, December 17, Victor 19247, recorded Camden, NJ http://www.loc.gov/jukebox/recordings/detail/id/9624 Quote
