JSngry Posted March 18, 2012 Report Posted March 18, 2012 Further hint - here dad & Sinatra worked together in the 1940s as members of somebody else's band, and then again in 1982 as more or less co-billed headliners (Sinatra always was top bill). Quote
T.D. Posted March 18, 2012 Report Posted March 18, 2012 (edited) Too generous with the hints, Jim! (I'd otherwise have had no clue ) Buddy Rich's daughter Cathy. Edited March 18, 2012 by T.D. Quote
GA Russell Posted March 18, 2012 Report Posted March 18, 2012 Valerie, it's Granny! Didn't you ever watch the show? LOL Yes, Irene Ryan looks to me like a different person than Granny. She was 60 years old when she started playing Granny, and IMO she looked closer to 75. I wonder how much of it was make-up, and how much of it was her. Quote
JSngry Posted March 18, 2012 Report Posted March 18, 2012 Too generous with the hints, Jim! (I'd otherwise have had no clue ) Buddy Rich's daughter Cathy. Oh, I think the resemblance is pretty strong! Here's the young Cathy singing with her dad's band ( I think she was 12 or 13): Quote
T.D. Posted March 20, 2012 Report Posted March 20, 2012 (edited) Come to think of it, I vaguely recall Cathy appearing with her father on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson... This one is likely too easy, but interesting anyway: Edited March 20, 2012 by T.D. Quote

T.D. Posted March 21, 2012 Report Posted March 21, 2012 Jack's right, as usual. I heard a radio story about Kathy Ireland becoming a megabucks business mogul, was kinda surprised, and looked for pics. I wouldn't have recognized her. Quote

I heard a radio story about Kathy Ireland becoming a megabucks business mogul, was kinda surprised, and looked for pics. I wouldn't have recognized her. Ireland was another model-turned-actress. I saw her guest star on a few television dramas, on which she demonstrated the usual poise and attractiveness with a lack of acting talent. Was surprised to learn relatively recently that she was a very successful entrepeneur in the clothing business. Apparently she does have a brain. Quote
JSngry Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 Wow that was quick! There are murmurings of a joint effort, or something.. http://music.yahoo.com/blogs/stop-the-presses/beatles-sons-really-form-own-band-211511971.html Quote
Dave James Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 Harrison's son looks a little like Russell Brand. Quote
GA Russell Posted April 15, 2012 Report Posted April 15, 2012 Take a look at the Patriots' #75. Those of you who are football trivia buffs may know the answer to this question. He was the last man to play pro football without a face mask. I had his bubble gum card in 1959 when he was with the Eagles. Who is he? Quote
Dave James Posted April 15, 2012 Report Posted April 15, 2012 (edited) Marion Campbell? Edited April 15, 2012 by Dave James Quote
GA Russell Posted April 15, 2012 Report Posted April 15, 2012 Nope! I can't think of any more clues to give! Quote
Bright Moments Posted April 15, 2012 Author Report Posted April 15, 2012 (edited) alex karras? hmmmm. . . spoiler alert Edited April 15, 2012 by Bright Moments Quote
T.D. Posted April 15, 2012 Report Posted April 15, 2012 Tough one! I only found via Google, so won't give spoiler. Not a familiar name to me. The facemask thing is debatable - I've seen others mentioned, and technically some punters/kickers may have held out longest. Quote
GA Russell Posted April 15, 2012 Report Posted April 15, 2012 (edited) In regard to the facemask, I remember when he was still playing fifty years ago that it was said that he was the last player. The website that linked me to that photo repeated the claim. Evan, your spoiler link is interesting because it disagrees! Oh well. Edited April 15, 2012 by GA Russell Quote
Dave James Posted April 16, 2012 Report Posted April 16, 2012 This is from Paul Lukas who writes a column for ESPN and blogs on his own under the name UniWatch. I sent this picture to Paul and he replied thusly: The last players not to wear a facemask were Pat Studstill and Bobby Joe Green. Studstill wore a one bar facemask with Detroit as a receiver and wore a different helmet without a facemask while punting for the Rams until 1971. Green served as the Bear's punter through 1974. Tommy McDonald was the last player other than a kicker or punter to not wear a facemask What may be more impressive is that (redacted) played on the defensive line for the Boston Patriots wiithout a facemask until 1964. Note that I refrained from letting the cat out of the bag, Quote
